It should work on desktops too.

Oh, I actually need to retire brightlight from Fedora. We should remove it from the i3 kickstarts.
It was my first package for my old laptop which had a weird backlight issue with xbacklight, but there are other tools which should work in place of brightlight.
I can warmly recommend brightnesctl, it worked even on my Dell Precision where xbacklight wouldn't do a thing and I was echo-ing numbers into /sys/…
