Summary: Too small mozilla fonts used in fedora release notes 5
and 6 for "class code".
Product: Fedora Core
Version: fc5
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux

ReportedBy: reiner(a)speech.mit.edu

Description of problem:
In the release notes for Fedora 5, some very small fonts are used
and it's very hard to read: It is the font used for class code.
For example, in the html one finds this:
... These build on the <code class="code">yum</code> utility ...
or this:
... a new package manager that replaces <code
class="code">system-config-packages</code>.
The resulting font used for the words yum and system-config-packages
is extremely small compared to the rest of the text.
Also the new release notes for Fedora core 6 look like this.
It would be nice if this could be fixed. Thanks.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 5.0
How reproducible: found same problem on a PC and a laptop with FC5

Opening the default page in firefox results in a whole slew of CSS and
JavaScript errors. I don't know how to copy/paste them, so screenshot attached.
Additionally, RELEASE-NOTES-*.html are installed with executable permissions.

In "Installation-Related Notes" there should be an examples on how to burn ISO
images to media using software available in previous FC releases.
For example:
To burn CD iso image ensure that you have "cdrecord" package installed (you
install cdrecord) and use a command like this:
# cdrecord -v -pad -eject -data FC-5-i386-disc1.iso
To burn DVD iso image ensure that you have "dvd+rw-tools" package installed (yum
install dvd+rw-tools) and use a command like this:
# growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvd=FC-5-i386-DVD.iso
Warning:
Do not use cdrecord to burn DVD+R media - this will probably not work:

[Bug 185788] New: RELNOTES - Better explanation of PostgreSQL upgrade

Actually the text is:
"Fedora Core 4 provided version 8.0 of PostgreSQL. If you upgrade an existing
Fedora system with a PostgreSQL database, you must upgrade the database to
access the data."
To me it's not clear that you have to back up _before_ upgrading. I'd rather prefer:
"The internal data storage format changed in respect to the version provided in
Fedora Core 4, PostgreSQL 8.0. Before upgrading an existing Fedora Core system
with a PostgreSQL database, you must back up the data and then restore it after
the upgrade."

[Bug 197554] New: RELNOTES - Encrypted swap and non-root filesystem support

Summary: RELNOTES - Encrypted swap and non-root filesystem

Product: Fedora Documentation
Version: devel
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux

Severity: normal
Priority: normal

ReportedBy: mitr(a)redhat.com

FC6 provides basic support for encrypted swap partitions and non-root
filesystems. To use it, add entries to /etc/crypttab and reference the
created devices in /etc/fstab.
An example /etc/crypttab entry for a swap partition:
my_swap /dev/hdb1 /dev/urandom swap,cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256
This creates an encrypted block device /dev/mapper/my_swap, which can be
referenced in /etc/fstab.
For a filesystem volume:
my_volume /dev/hda5 /etc/volume_key cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256
The /etc/volume_key file contains a plaintext encryption key. You can
also specify "none" as the key file name, and the system will ask for
the encryption key during boot.
It is recommended to use LUKS for filesystem volumes:
- Create the encrypted volume using (cryptsetup luksFormat)
- Add the necessary entry to /etc/crypttab
- Set up the volume manually using (cryptsetup luksOpen) or reboot
- Create a filesystem on the encrypted volume
- Set up an /etc/fstab entry

Change to FC6 autofs package that needs release notes entry
by Ian Kent
Hi,
I've recently submitted an update to the FC6 autofs package to fix a
fairly serious bug. Among other updates (included in the updated
package) there is a change to the one of the main default configuration
files. While this is likely to go unnoticed it is possible that the
semantic behavior will change in some cases and so I would like to
include something in the Release notes.
I've looked at the Beats pages but I'm not really sure how to go about
this.
Can you help me out please?
Ian
