Thanks Cole. On Fedora, it worked with '--enablerepo=updates-testing' but
apparently there is a bug on libvirt where it fails to transform a Spice
configuration entry from the XML file into a correct '-spice' qemu command
line argument.

On the XML, libvirt/virt-manager generates:

<graphics type='spice' autoport='yes' listen='127.0.0.1'/>

But VM fails to boot with this error:

qemu-kvm: -spice port=5901,addr=127.0.0.1,disable-ticketing: Invalid
parameter 'addr'
parse error: port=5901,addr=127.0.0.1,disable-ticketing

So 'addr' is invalid for qemu -spice and the man page doesn't say much about
it.

Any hint? My software levels:

OK, so docs for the 'qemu -spice' parameters can be found at
http://www.spice-space.org/docs/spice_user_manual.pdf and indeed there is no
'addr=' but 'host='. So apparently libvirt 0.8.7 needs to fix that.

BTW, even if I set the qemu spice server to listen on any address (either
through virt-manager or manually removing the 'listen=' from the XML file),
libvirt 0.8.7 goes and adds an annoying 'addr=0.0.0.0' which makes qemu to
fail to start.

Now I'll try to write a temporary shell wrapper to transform 'addr' into
'host' until libvirt gets fixed.

You can get it from rawhide. So

release candidate has been built for rawhide yet.

The virt-preview repo has also been broken for several days now because
the new virt-manager packager wants spice-gtk-python which isn't there.

spice-gtk packages are pending for f14:

Once those show up in f14 repos, virt-preview should be fixed.

spice-gtk-python has been in updates-testing for F14 all that time.  It
might be a good time to test and give karma to get the update live.
There was no point in doing a build for virt-preview when the exact same
package is being pushed to F14.   At the point when F14 and F15 package
diverge, virt-preview will pick up the F15 package.

My bad. I actually checked (or rather as it turns out, tried to) my
local mirror of updates-testing this morning to see if it was there but
I inadvertently looked at the wrong path and hence didn't find it...

Ok, so the 'host=' argument is unsupported on qemu 0.13 and the spice
documentation is wrong.

Attached is a qemu wrapper script that you can save under the
name /tmp/qemu-libvirt-spice-fixer.
Then you edit your /etc/libvirt/qemu/myvm.xml and change the emulator line
to this:

    <emulator>/tmp/qemu-libvirt-spice-fixer</emulator>

Now use virt-manager 0.8.6 to create a spice display or simply add it
manually to /etc/libvirt/qemu/myvm.xml like this:

    <graphics type='spice' autoport='yes'/>

Restart libvirt and boot your VMs.
You can now use spicy to connect to your VMs.

This is quite dirty and insecure cause anybody anywhere will be able to
connect to your VMs with the spice protocol. But we are testing new stuff
here, right!?

You can clean the mess when qemu 0.14 will be available so all these
workaround won't be needed anymore. Hopefully.

If current libvirt can't handle current qemu simple thing as the 'host='
parameter, I won't risk trying things as TLS and certificates. Of course you
can write your configs and initscripts manualy, but then what is the point
on libvirt and virt-manager ?
