Or people simply disagree with your assertion that thing are "finished 
and good as they are".  My day to day desktop usage of Fedora with 17 is 
a VAST improvement over when I started using linux on a desktop with Red 
Hat Linux 7.  It is a much more pleasant and efficient environment for 
me to use.  We would not have gotten here without people being 
dissatisfied with how things are currently and putting in time and 
effort to improve them.
