Martin: I posted a number of issues some time back that I was
having, and others that occurred when I tried to revert. I was
finally able to figure it out and have successfully gone back.
Before I did, what I was getting:
1) I didn't get the issue with notifications
2) I didn't have this problem either
3) I didn't try this one, so I can't say

What I did get was a lot of confusion regarding what was already
downloaded mail, and what wasn't. Messages would get downloaded
multiple times. Sometimes, they would get filtered into the
appropriate folder, sometimes a duplicate would be downloaded and
left in the inbox - (I was having to highlight new mail
constantly, and do a 'Ctl-j' to run the filters manually, followed
by going to each folder and running a 'Ctl-Shift-* to eliminate
duplicates)- with over 40 folders, this got to be very tedious.
Processing time started out terrible but seemed to improve with
subsequent updates, but, the filtering/duplicate download problem
never resolved - for now, I'm back to previous version, and KMail
is working well again
