From what I can tell, it's far more common for applications that log into /var/log to use their own directory (cobbler, couchdb, httpd etc.).
So I changed the default log location to /var/log/autoqa/autoqa.log and updated the spec to create that directory with proper permissions such that autoqa can write to the file.
