GNOME 3.6 brings its own input method chooser.
Having an im framework chooser application in the menus is confusing, now that
we've choosen to integrate ibus.
Please make it possible to use ibus in GNOME without installing im-chooser.

This dependency was added in bug 696510 to deal with upgrade issues in
F14->F15.
With GNOME 3.6 in F18, GNOME does its own management of im settings, and we
don't need or want the extra imsettings process running in GNOME sessions
anymore.

I tested this on Fedora-18-Beta-TC6-x86_64-netinst.iso
- default install of Fedora-18-Beta-TC6-x86_64-netinst.iso in Japanese in qemu
- log in into gnome shell
- Install KDE with:
sudo yum install "@KDE Plasma Workspaces"
- quit gnome session (e.g. execute "gnome-session-quit")
- in gdm select KDE and log in again
- Look at the panel, there is the ibus icon showing a keyboard and a globe
- click on the ibus icon
Actual results:
Usually nothing happens. When one tries often the ibus menu pops up
sometimes but disappears again immediately. The user has no chance
to select anything in the ibus menu.
Sometimes, if I click on the ibus icon and keep the mouse pressed, the
ibus menu pops up and stays as long as I neither release the mouse
button nor move the mouse. But even then it is not possible to select
anything in the menu because trying to move the mouse from the ibus
item to the menu makes the menu disappear again.
Other icons in the panel, for example the icon showing scissors
(klipper) pop up menus just fine and these menus are usable.
Only the ibus icon seems to have this problem.
Expected results:
ibus menu should pop up and one should be able to select something there.

Chandas Uttara Sahadeva and Lohit Devangari
Description of problem:
The Lohit Devanagari currently uses the most popular variant - the southern
variant of devanagari. But being the default font of fedora a popular os, it
should also support the northern variant of devangari. This requires additions
of newer glyph for:
अ आ ओ औ ऋ ॠ ण झ क्ष
My goal by asking this feature is to make Lohit Devanagari a full featured
Devanagari font.

Additional info:
I have attached the screenshot showing it in Chandas/Uttara - a GPL'ed font
containing Northern Variant, and a free font Sahadeva containing Northern
variant along with Lohit Hindi. Hope this will help.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 851825] New: Need consistent naming of glyphs across entire font family
by Red Hat Bugzilla

family
Regression: ---
Story Points: ---
Classification: Fedora
OS: All
Reporter: deron.meranda(a)gmail.com
Type: Bug
Documentation: ---
Hardware: All
Mount Type: ---
Status: NEW
Component: liberation-fonts
Product: Fedora
Description of problem:
Among all the different fonts within the Liberation family the naming of glyphs
and mappings to Unicode codepoints should be consistent.
For example, the glyph named "fi" maps to U+FB01 in LiberationMono-Regular.sfd,
but to U+F001 in LiberationSans-Italic.sfd.
Also, for the reverse mappings, the Unicode codepoint U+00B7 maps to glyph
"middot.001" in LiberationMono-BoldItalic.sfd, but to a glyph named "middot" in
LiberationSans-Regular.sfd and to "uni00B7" in LiberationSerif-Bold.sfd.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
liberation-fonts-2.00.0
Expected results:
All the fonts in the font family should use consistent glyph names and unicode
codepoints (when a particular character is in the font).
Additional info:
The attachment lists all these inconsistencies. I've excluded cases where a
particular glyph/character is not included in one font.
Note that many of these are simply cases where:
* A glyph is not named (e.g., of the form "uniXXXX")
* A glyph has no unicode assignment (value 1)
Also in a few cases there are glyphs that have multiple unicode codepoint
assignments — see Bug #851790
