Two ideas:
If the existing kickstarts do something similar and work correctly then
some systematic testing should reveal what the problem is.
This seems to be questions regarding standard GNOME functionality, so it
would perhaps be better to look for documentation in that direction and
ask there. GNOME is a mutating moving target.

You might have to update the version number - and perhaps more than that
- if you are building with the latest updates.
