[SECURITY] Fedora Core 4 Update: sudo-1.6.8p8-2.4
by Karel Zak
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2005-1147
2005-12-16
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 4
Name : sudo
Version : 1.6.8p8
Release : 2.4
Summary : Allows restricted root access for specified users.
Description :
Sudo (superuser do) allows a system administrator to give certain
users (or groups of users) the ability to run some (or all) commands
as root while logging all commands and arguments. Sudo operates on a
per-command basis. It is not a replacement for the shell. Features
include: the ability to restrict what commands a user may run on a
per-host basis, copious logging of each command (providing a clear
audit trail of who did what), a configurable timeout of the sudo
command, and the ability to use the same configuration file (sudoers)
on many different machines.

* Sat Dec 16 2006 Karel Zak <kzak(a)redhat.com> 1.6.8p8-2.4
- fix #175295 - SECURITY: CRM 764618: Perl scripts run via Sudo can be subverted

[SECURITY] Fedora Core 3 Update: gpdf-2.8.2-6.2
by Ray Strode
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2005-1146
2005-12-14
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 3
Name : gpdf
Version : 2.8.2
Release : 6.2
Summary : viewer for Portable Document Format (PDF) files for GNOME
Description :
This is GPdf, a viewer for Portable Document Format (PDF) files for
GNOME. GPdf is based on the Xpdf program and uses additional GNOME
libraries for better desktop integration.
GPdf includes the gpdf application, a Bonobo control for PDF display
which can be embedded in Nautilus, and a Nautilus property page for
PDF files.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Several more flaws were discovered in Xpdf, which is used
internally by gpdf. An attacker could
construct a carefully crafted PDF file that could cause gpdf
to crash or possibly execute arbitrary code when opened. The
Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project assigned the
name CAN-2005-3193 to these issues.
Users of gpdf should upgrade to this updated package, which
contains a patch to resolve these issues.

Fedora Core 4 Update: dhcp-3.0.2-26.FC4
by Jason Vas Dias
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2005-1095
2005-12-14
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Product : Fedora Core 4
Name : dhcp
Version : 3.0.2
Release : 26.FC4
Summary : A DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server and relay agent.
Description :
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a protocol which allows
individual devices on an IP network to get their own network
configuration information (IP address, subnetmask, broadcast address,
etc.) from a DHCP server. The overall purpose of DHCP is to make it
easier to administer a large network. The dhcp package includes the
ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
To use DHCP on your network, install a DHCP service (or relay agent),
and on clients run a DHCP client daemon. The dhcp package provides
the ISC DHCP service and relay agent.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
* Sat Nov 19 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> - 11:3.0.2-26
- fix bug 173619: dhclient-script should reconfig on RENEW if
subnet-mask, broadcast-address, mtu, routers, etc.
have changed
- apply upstream improvements to trailing nul options fix of bug 160655
- fix bug 167028 - test IBM's unicast bootp patch (from xma(a)us.ibm.com)
- fix bug 171312 - silence chkconfig error message if ypbind not installed
- fix dhcpd.init when -cf arg given to dhcpd
- make dhcpd init touch /var/lib/dhcpd/dhcpd.leases, not /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases
- Allow dhclient route metrics to be specified with DHCP options:
The dhcp-options(5) man-page states:
'option routers ... Routers should be listed in order of preference'
and
'option static-routes ... are listed in descending order of priority' .
No preference / priority could be set with previous dhclient-script .
Now, dhclient-script provides:
Default Gateway (option 'routers') metrics:
Instead of allowing only one default gateway, if more than one router
is specified in the routers option, routers following the first router
will have a 'metric' of their position in the list (1,...N>1).
Option static-routes metrics:
If a target appears in the list more than once, routes for duplicate
targets will have successively greater metrics, starting at 1.

- fix bug 175467: perl5db.pl's perldbtty now defaults to $HOME/.perldbtty$$ .
* Fri Dec 9 2005 Jason Vas Dias <jvdias(a)redhat.com> - 3.5.8.6-20
- Apply upstream patches 26283 and 26284 : complete, revised fixes
for CVE-2005-3962 and CVE-2005-3912 and
"Sys::Syslog security vulnerabilities" issues.
- Fix bug 136009 / MakeMaker LD_RUN_PATH issue:
restore previous default Red Hat behavior of removing the MakeMaker
generated LD_RUN_PATH setting from the link command .
Document this removal, as it contravenes upstream default behavior, and
provide a USE_MM_LD_RUN_PATH MakeMaker member to enable use of the
MakeMaker generated LD_RUN_PATH .
