Hi Folks,
July is just around the corner, and that means so is Fedora Hatch Cork! If
you would like to give a talk, please submit your idea to this repo
https://pagure.io/cpe/Fedora_Hatch_Cork/issues by next week, and if you
would like to attend the event, please reach out to me directly so I can
add you to the list of folks.
I hope to see as many fedora folks from around Ireland and possibly the UK
and Europe in a few weeks time and if you have any questions at all please
dont hesitate to ask.
Kindest regards,
Aoife

Hi Fedora community!
I am very pleased to share with you all that the Fedora Project has
approved funding for a Fedora Hatch event to be hosted in Cork, Ireland on
Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th July 2022. This is an in person,
mini-conference event spread over 1.5 days that will be held in the Red Hat
Cork office. Our event will include fedora-related talks, a mini-workshop
and a keynote. More importantly, we will also *finally* host a real life
in-person, in-pub pub quiz on the Wednesday evening after day #1! This
event is free to attend and lunch will be provided for both days for
attendees along with a casual dinner as part of the pub quiz on Wednesday
evening.
So that's the good news, but unfortunately there are a few constraints we
have to operate under as this is a small, local-ish event and we do have
some capacity restrictions. This event is limited to 30 attendees including
speakers. We can provide meals (lunch and dinner) and refreshments during
the event, however we cannot cover travel and accommodation costs. That
being said, if you would like to give a talk at this event, I would invite
you to submit your talk proposal to our repo as we do have funding to cover
accommodation costs for speakers for x1 night.
As we are hoping to host this event in 4 weeks and if you would like to
attend and give a talk, I would ask you to please submit your talk asap to
https://pagure.io/cpe/Fedora_Hatch_Cork
The deadline for submissions is Monday June 20th @ 23:59 UTC+1. Speakers
who have been selected will be notified by no later than Wednesday 22nd
June @ 1700 UTC+1.
Registration for tickets for those wishing to attend will become available
on Thursday 23rd June @ 1200 UTC+1 via an email to the fedora-announce &
ireland-announce lists.
This event will be held in the Red Hat Cork office which is located ~10
mins walk from Cork airport
https://www.corkairport.com/home. We
recommend this airport to travel to/from for your convenience if attending
from the UK or Europe.
The nearest hotel is the [Cork International Hotel](
https://www.corkinternationalairporthotel.com/?utm_source=mybusiness&...).
We recommend this hotel for your stay, however please do not book direct -
instead reach out to Aoife Moloney (me) by emailing amoloney(a)redhat.com
notifying of an intention to attend, how many nights accommodation and how
many occupants as we will create a group booking with the hotel and book
your accommodation on your behalf. This will be pay on arrival unless
indicated otherwise.
I hope to see some of you in Cork in July for Fedora's first(?) Irish
event and please make sure to submit a talk to us before Monday June 20th
if you would like to attend!
Go raibh míle maith agait agus is mise le meas,
Aoife
