1.3.3 test release now available
by Michael DeHaan
Hello everyone,
Test release 1.3.3 is now ready and available at:
http://people.fedoraproject.org/~mdehaan/files/cobbler/
1.4 will be coming out at the end of this week, so here's your chance to
get in some final testing. Please report back with any questions,
comments, or concerns you might have.
https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/wiki/WhatsNewInThirteen
This week will be devoted to closing up any defects we have in Trac as
well as some additional testing on my end.
If you've sent in any patches, I'm holding them until next week when we
can look at starting the 1.5 development branch. You are not
forgotten. If you do think you are forgotten, send me an email next
week :)

Does anyone want to present Cobbler at FOSDEM?
by Michael DeHaan
I received a request to have Cobbler at FOSDEM (Brussels, Feb 2009)
though I figured I would hand this over to someone in Europe that wanted
to go.
I can think of quite a few good candidates on this list.
Email me if you're interested and I'll set you up with the contact
information.

cobbler-1.2.9-1 - the webinterface doesn't like quotes (")
by Rainer Duffner
Hi,
When you issue a parameter (in the ksmeta-section) that is surrounded by
quotes, the web-interface cuts of the output at that point the next time
you edit that system.
But the values are in the DB - the kickstart get's rendered correctly.
Best Regards,
Rainer

memtest cobbler image
by Joshua Baldock
Hi Guys,
Would like some help regarding configuring a memtest imaghe for cobbler. I have followed this page on the wiki:
https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/wiki/MemTest
So I have run the command:
cobbler image add --name=memtest --file=/tftpboot/memtest86 --image-type=direct
Now because Im unable to run PXE in our environment, I am using the 'cobbler buildiso' command to create a boot disk. However when I boot the machine with the created iso disk, it does not have the image option of memtest.
Im sure there is something that Im missing. Im not sure if I need to create a profile associated with the memtest image, but if that's the case I haven't been able to work out how to do that.
Thanks for you help.
Cheers,
Josh

FYI 1.3.X is (inadvertently) available for F-10, explanation
by Michael DeHaan
The confusion here is that I had pushed the test release to rawhide, and
rawhide became F-10, so 1.3.X is in F-10.
If you are using F-10 as your deployment platform, be advised it may
have some issues and you may want to use 1.2.9, though there is not a
downgrade path.
1.4 (the result of the 1.3.X branch) should be out in a week or so.

Not Updating DHCP
by Christopher Johnston
Unclear on why cobbler is not updating dhcpd.conf, I have omapi management
disabled and the stock dhcp.template modified slightly to support a private
subnet in one of my labs. Cobbler check looks ok, cobbler sync obviously
fails to restart dhcpd because the file never gets written out. Does my
template look correct (its the stock template)

[PATCH 0/2] Simple patches
by Jeroen van Meeuwen
Hey there,
two simple patches; I'll start with the latter: Fix typo
The first enables to use of the $menu_label variable in
pxesystem.template files. If you change the pxesystem.template file to
prompt, and timeout, and maybe even allow options, the menu entry you
get normally is "linux". This patch enables one to use $menu_label in
the pxesystem.template.
Hope you like what you see,
Kind regards,
Jeroen van Meeuwen

by Vreman, Peter
Please find attached a script to create an initrd that contains the HP Proliant Firmware CD and registers it in cobbler. If you find it usefull it can be added to the contrib directory.
