disabling second nic and HP firmware cd...
by Corey Kovacs
Folks,
Is there a built in 'correct' way to ensure that my second nics are
not configured during build and left alone when using the network
config snippets delivered with cobbler?
RIght now, when the nodes finish building, the undefined second nic
tries to dhcp even though I've not given it a config.
I am getting around this by making the appropriate changes to
ifcfg-eth1 via two 'sed' lines but if there is a 'better' way I'd
rather do that than rely on a post config.
Also,
are people using the livecd boot method for booting HP firmware disks?
How about the SSTK?
Thanks
Corey

cobbler with no local mirroring?
by Matthew Miller
I know, installation server with batteries included... but we've got this
connection to the power grid already up and running and would like to use
that but still use cobbler. :)
Basically, we've got a mirror server already. It has plenty of resources,
and it's set up to automatically sync and so on. I'd therefore like to avoid
duplicating effort (and wasting disk space) in cobbler, and point entirely
at that remote mirror. The "Non-Import (Manual) Workflow" with
--mirror-locally=N seems to get us part way there, but we still need to do
things like "distro add" pointing to local kernel/initrd files
This can't be that uncommon of a use case, can it? I must be missing
something. Is there a secret way to distro add (or better yet "cobbler
import") with the equivalent of --mirror-locally=N?
Thanks!
(Oh, related question: if one is doing --mirror-locally=N, does cobbler
reposync do anything?)

Missing xxxx-primary.sqlite.bz2
by Baptiste AGASSE
Hi all,
I use cobbler to mirror EPEL repo for some packages
I have created the repo in cobbler with rpm-list option :
--rpm-list="cobbler chkrootkit func python-simplejson certmaster nagios* nrpe* php* perl-* mod_* pam_* debmirror*"
This sync package as i want but not download/generate the xxxx-primary.sqlite.bz2 for the mirrored repo, and when i want to query this repo, I get an error from yum :
# yum install debmirror
Loaded plugins: allowdowngrade, fastestmirror, priorities, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
http://cobbler.exemple.com/cobbler/repo_mirror/CentOS-5-epel-x86_64/repod...: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404: Not Found

cobbler version (from EPEL repo for EL5):

Anyone have the same problem ?

Ticket #132
by Ronald J. Yacketta
While setting up a new cobbler server this afternoon I found myself
wondering why default_virt_path and others were not in settings. Went
back to trac to see the status of the ticket I created eons ago to find
it is a RFE that was last updated '1 year ago'
Any chance of dusting this off and seeing if it is still worthwhile to
put into a near future release of cobbler?

Ron

Man page missing in latest Cobbler release (2.0.4-1.el5)
by Paul Maunders
Hi again,
We are using the latest version of cobbler from the EPEL testing
repository, and it seems the man page for Cobbler is missing from this
version.
man cobbler
gunzip: /usr/share/man/man1/cobbler.1.gz: unexpected end of file
fgets: No such file or directory
Error reading man page /usr/share/man/man1/cobbler.1.gz
No manual entry for cobbler
We've looked in the source tarball here:
http://people.fedoraproject.org/~shenson/cobbler/cobbler-2.0.4.tar.gz
and the man page (cobbler-2.0.4/docs/cobbler.1.gz) is 0 bytes.
We've manually installed an older man page for now, but I thought I
should report the issue to the list so it can be fixed in a future
release.

Paul Maunders

rpm-list
by Markus Falb
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
Some time ago I encountered some problems with the --rpm-list option for
the cobbler repo command. As I understood, the --rpm-list option do not
work with foreign architectures, e.g. if cobbler server is i386 one
cannot make a repo for x86_64.
https://fedorahosted.org/pipermail/cobbler/2009-June/004566.html
The related ticket was closed without a explanation why:
https://fedorahosted.org/cobbler/ticket/153
I stumbled over this issue again and it seems to me its even worse. The
repo for the same arch does not work too.
repo with same arch as cobbler server and rpm-list specified:
reposync works but yum complains:
Error: failure: repodata/primary.xml.gz from reponame: [Errno 256] No
more mirrors to try.
I also tried with --mirror-locally turned off, no difference. What are
the use cases for the --rpm-list feature then ? Anyone using this ? As
far as I can see it only produces a partial mirror that is not usable by
yum after mirroring, and thats the best case. In the worse case it is
not even capable to create the mirror.

Koan Problems...
by Anthony Davis
Hi,
I am trying to use koan to create kvm virtual machines on a kvm host,
but have been having a problem. For the most part koan does everything
perfectly.
The problem arises when i need to use the virtio-net and virtio-blk
drivers for network and disk.
My question is, is there anyway that this can be amended in koan so
that these are the default settings?
I hope someone can help.
Kind Regards
Tony

Koan "--quiet" flag?
by lists@truthisfreedom.org.uk
Hi all,
I'm currently building a few scripts that will allow me to integrate
cobbler/koan into my puppet manifest CI testing.
The script is in ruby and execs koan, however koan generates a load of
"noise" on output.
This output is v. useful when I'm running it form the commandline,
however when the CI engine detects the script has output, it chucks the
whole output into the "status" window.
Is there a way of getting koan to run and not return and output?
Thanks,
Matt

Issues with XMLRPC interface

Hi all,
I'm trying to retrieve the data as it is presented to KOAN using python
following the documentation at

running into the following error:
