Log kickstarts from the server without the use of snippets

Hi all, I need to log all kickstarts to file, performed from our Cobbler server but cannot rely on Snippets being used. Anyone have an idea how to perform that? I only need the date (hostname would be a bonus) when the profile is served to the client. Thanks in advance,

[RELEASE] 2.2.2-1 now available

Cobbler 2.2.2-1 has been pushed to Fedora (F15-17, EL5, EL6) and should be propagating to testing soon. The 2.2.1-1 version was also promoted to stable for EL5 and EL6 (F15/16 were not due to negative karma issues). Thanks to everyone for their patience during the transition of leadership, and sorry it has taken this long to get all of the permissions for the Fedora build system transferred over. The next release should go much smoother.

"too many values to unpack" when running cobbler status

Hi, Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue, but I thought I'd report back just in case someone does. The code in action_status.py expects the lines in install.log to look like this: system cobblertest None start 1334622964.41 If you are upgrading from 2.0.x to 2.2.x, you will likely have install.log entries like: system cobblertest None stop 14/03/2012 15:15:52 As you can see, there has been a change in timestamps, so Python freaks out in line 74 when it finds more values in the "tokens" list than it expected. The way I fixed it was by simply removing old install.log entries that used the human-readable date/time. Of course, it could have been fixed by processing each file and converting to timestamp, but I personally don't care about the old install entries so it was quicker to delete them. Perhaps the better fix is to update action_status.py so it can detect the older format and do it for you, that way one less hiccup in the upgrade. Lastly, my /etc/logrotate.conf is configured to compress log files, which means I have a few /var/log/install.log-YYYYMMDD*.gz* files. Clearly the code in action_status.py is not designed to handled gzipped install.log files. Should this condition be taken care of by the cobbler code or should install.log files not be gzipped? - Gonzalo

Must specify port with koan now?

Hi All, I've just upgraded from 2.0.x to 2.2.x and finding a few minor issues, such as koan wanting to connect by default to port 25151. Cobbler only binds to 127.0.0.1:25151, so the only way to get koan to work is by specifying "-t 80". In Koan/Cobbler 2.0.x, this was not the case. Did something get messed up in the upgrade? Cobbler 2.2.2-1 and pxe just once.

On Scientific Linux 6.2. Under cobbler-2.0.11-2.el6.noarch, with a setting of "pxe_just_once: 1", and kiskstart entries of "%pre\n$kickstart_start" and "%post\n$kickstart_done" worked perfectly; "--netboot-enabled=true" did not result in a pxe boot/install loop. However, after upgrading to cobbler-2.2.2-1, and adding "[tftpd]\nmodule = manage_in_tftpd" so that I could start cobblerd (without this option, I get the "CX: 'serializer: error loading collection distro. Check /etc/cobbler/modules.conf" error), "--netboot-enabled=true" results in a pxe boot/install loop. Suggestions?
