Hey,
It would be great to be able to dynamically provision cluster nodes. Is there any good way to accomplish this? Does RHCS have something like an API which we can use to integrate this in Cobbler somehow? I'd like to hear some thoughts on this.
Kind regards, Jasper Capel

Mmm - you may run into problems with the RHCS4 and RHCS5 differences.
In RHCS for RHEL5 you have the Conga suite with a XMLRPC interface (correct me if I'm wrong please). This is non-existant for RHEL4. You'd have to do it all in another way for RHEL4.
If somebody is aware of an API for RHCS4 configuration I'd be very interested.

I don't work with Cluster Suite, but if it's just a matter of making nice kickstarts that have "register to cluster" calls in %post? Maybe also setting up some files in %post using some templating tricks?
This is how redeploying RHN systems with coblber works (rhnreg_ks).

Conga is supported on more recent RHEL4 versions - 4.5+ It uses XMLRPC internally between the Luci server and Ricci agents on the cluster nodes. There are ssl certs for the luci-ricci conversations that are needed as well.
To dynamically "add" new cluster nodes, I don't think Cobbler is the right place. We could provision new nodes, but would no join the cluster.
It might be better to look at from the cluster manager perspective. The cluster manager could invoke cobbler to provision a node and then join it o the cluster.

Indeed, maybe not. It would be useful to be able to control luci using XMLRPC though, but this is probably not the place to ask. :) Thanks for your input!

Additionally additionally (sorry for the spam),
We should also make it possible to supply these to the cobbler command line when cycling power.
Will do this instead of the environment idea.
