This is now available at http://mdehaan.fedorapeople.org/files/cobbler/testing/
Shortly it will also be available in Fedora and EPEL testing repos.
Given a lack of any big scary bug reports, we'll see about pushing this to stable for general consumption in about a week -- or if necessary can iterate on this again. Please let me know how 2.0.1 works for you.
Thanks to everyone who helped out with testing, bug reports, and fixing!

After updating from cobbler 2.0.0 to 2.0.1 my web management interface is gone. I get 404 when I attempt to access it.
"The requested URL /cobbler_web was not found on this server."
$ rpm -qa cobbler* cobbler-2.0.1-1.fc10.noarch cobbler-web-2.0.1-1.fc10.noarch

I found the problem.
The recent change to /etc/httpd/conf.d/cobbler_web.conf that added:
<VirtualHost *:80> ... </VirtualHost>
broke compatibility with our Apache server configured for SSL.

On two boxes I've upgraded from 1.6.6, I had to change the ownership of the files in /var/log/cobbler from root:root to apache:apache.
Could be a peculiarity of my installation, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Here deletion of the logfile with old permissions was enough. Our complete upgrade-path including upgrade to cobbler 2.0.1 from an intranet yum-repo:
---------------------------- yum clean all yum update cobbler # brings up cobbler-2.0.1 at least cd /etc/cobbler cp settings.rpmnew settings
vi settings # # default_kickstart: /cobbler/data_dist_slave/kickstart_templates/rhel5.cfg # snippetsdir: /cobbler/data_dist_slave/snippets # next_server: $your_adminnet_ip # restart_dhcp: 1 # server: $your_adminnet_ip
vi dhcp.template # remove the three omapi-lines. # omapi no longer supported.
rm -f /var/log/cobbler/cobbler.log service cobblerd restart; cobbler sync
# check if getting a kickstartfile works: cobbler system getks --name=chhorn_tester2|less # check if installing a machine works ----------------------------
