Comment (by sam08):
Hi all,
so, here's what came out of a survey I made on the fonts generally used
across the different media.
We in the Design Team are still using Comfortaa a lot, specifically for
headlines, posters, banners; and I think that all in all it's quite
effective. Replacing it with something else would also mean changing all
the sub-logos [team, application, etc] which are essentially built on it.
I haven't seen any trace of Quicksand or Arista 2.0 around, though the
former looks good.
Talking about text body, generally Cantarell is preferred over Droid Sans
– but they're both typefaces meant for screen reading, so maybe they're
not the right choice for print.
About the other fonts mentioned in the description:
Open Sans has also been considered as an alternative by the Design Team;
Montserrat may work well as a sans serif font too.
Personally, I would avoid an extensive use of Molot, Grand Hotel or
Overpass, while I think that Roboto Slab [and the whole Roboto family] can
be a good option for text body, both on screen and print.
There are many interesting typefaces around, but I think trying to keep
them consistent across all the branches is what we should do; we will
discuss about this during the next meeting and once we come to a
conclusion I will update both the wiki and the template.
I'm attaching for reference a PNG with some sample text for each typeface.
