For the banner, how about blue for a primary color with the Fedora logo to the left and a sample of IRC chat in the background as sort of a watermark, with 'Fedora IRC Support SIG' in black in the foreground? Just a thought. Suggestions welcome.
I'll have to think up something for the member page icon.

I love the fedora bubbles as speech bubbles idea!
Not too sure about the purple gradients on the bubbles though. How does it look with just flat white? with maybe some spacing between the bubbles?
Also, the new cloud SIG banner is typical of the colours and layout that we are recently producing for these banners. (https://fedorahosted.org /design-team/attachment/ticket/242/cloudsig-banner.png). Producing something similar to that (in basic layout, not the logo :) ) will also help!

Changed bubble gradient to the blue, spaced them out Changed font of support sig to Comfortaa, found the TM hiding in two not so contrasting pixels and told them not to be shy

Here's the design feedback we discussed today in IRC:
- For reference, the banner design style we're trying to standardize on now is something like this: https://fedorahosted.org/design-team/raw- attachment/ticket/242/cloudsig-banner.png In the wiki, it looks like this: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Cloud_SIG
- It looks like your background gradient is a bit lighter / desaturated compared to that one, which is why I think you went with dark blue instead of white for the text. You should use the gradient in the cloud banner background, and also go with white text. You can snag the gradient for it from the source file, available here: https://fedorahosted.org/design- team/attachment/ticket/242/cloudsig-banner.svg
- The resolution of the cloud one is 468x60; it looks like yours is 728x90. so you will want to scale it down too. An easy way to do this is to copy/paste the background gradient rectangle from the cloud sig SVG into your SVG, select it, then go to File > Document Properties in Inkscape and click on 'resize page to content' and hit the button in there.
- It doesn't look like the font for the ? and ! in the bubbles is Comfortaa - you'll want to update those to be Comfortaa.
- "IRC" and "Support SIG" are split on different sides of the Fedora logomark. The logo standard for Fedora groups is to have the full group name to the right of the Fedora mark in the same size (see http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Fedora_Sub- Logos:_Standard_uses_of_the_Fedora_Logo_with_other_elements ). So you'll want to adjust that.
- We do usually have a mirror effect on the group logo on the right. I can walk you through how to do this in Inkscape after you've got the rest covered.
