K12Linux Development Discussion List
by Warren Togami
https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/k12linux-devel-list
We will use this list to discuss the development of K12Linux as we
approach Fedora 9. At some point a k12linux-users-list will be opened
to split user support from development discussion.
(On the topic of user support, I think a mailing list is OK, but we
could better serve the less experienced educator who is the target user
by using a web forum instead. Easier to navigate and search through
threads.)

LTSP5 - rdesktop screen script
by Darryl Bond
I noticed that xorg-x11-xinit is not in the common.ks file. The rdesktop
screen script will not work without xinit.
How can I add additional packages to the chroot without updating the
kickstart file and rebuilding the client?
I have an old LTSP (4.1 & 4.2) system with several additional bits like:
1. screen script similar to rdesktop but using vnc. This might be useful
upstream.
2. Local window manager - currently using xview (olwm) - I'm thinking
about fluxbox or icewm instead.
regards
Darryl

LTSP5 for Fedora Status
by Warren Togami
http://wtogami.livejournal.com/23648.html
Some code is ready to test if you are adventurous. Only Fedora 8 is
partially usable today. NOT ready for production, and highly likely to
conflict with past K12LTSP packages if you have them installed.
I need your feedback, bug reports and patches.

Did you mean:
Tuesday 4 March 2008? I can meet then.
If you meant:
Friday, 4 April 2008
then that is a problem because, ironically, I will be running a
conference on Open Source and Education that day ( http://ncose.org/?
q=node/11 )
Let me know,

Possible Edu-SIG Meeting
by Sebastian Dziallas
Hi everybody,
since we got some response in relationship with a possible Education-SIG
Meeting, I would like to start the discussion about an appropriate
date: I know, that such a possible date can not be perfect for
everybody, but we should at least discuss it.
My proposal would be: Friday, 4 March 2008, at 2000 UTC
Again, this is only one possibility and just a suggestion, so do not
hesitate to come up with other ideas.
Best Regards,
Sebastian
