Hi all,
We finally get what should have been proposed at first. You are now able to book your own room by yourself! Please mind that we have locked 30 twins (2 separated beds) until the end of August. After then, there will be no free rooms garantee, all not booked rooms will be unlocked. So please, book by the end of August.
Booking is as easy as… sending en email!
Let me remind you the schedule: 13, 14, 15th of October, it's FUDCon time! 12, 13, 14th of October, it's the hotel locked rooms. If you plan to stay longer, feel free to ask them on the booking email, but quickly as we have locked only for 3 nights.
To book your room: # Find a Fedora mate to share, or pay the full price (81€/night + 7% of taxes) # Send an email to the booking service ("Service Réservation" in French) at the # Hotel (H1401@accor.com), with: ## First name ## Last name ## Phone number ## Credit Card number *and* its expiration date # Update the table[1]. # Tell that you are part of the "Fedora Group"
The breakfast is not included, tell them if you need so. Wifi is free.
Booking cancelation: As it is really easy to cancel your reservation, please, book *quickly*! You won't be charged for canceling your reservation if you do so before the arrival day, 7:00PM.
Please ask us if you've any queries, we should reply in this list, but you can also use our newly created fudcon-emea@fedoraproject.org alias, thanks to tatica[2]. This alias as not been tested yet, but we have 10 guys behind, you should receive an answer :).
If you're curious, the hotel is here[3]. I am going to update the FUDCon page with the above HOT info!

Tomas and Stano talked to the hotel and they have found the way how to pay without the need to disclose you credit card data via email :)
Guys, pls, could you share it here? :)

Sure, that would be great…
Dennis, I expected this kind of question and propose the following way: send me your personal info to my own email address using my not cross-signed key (I could cross sign it soon with a RH dev if you want), and then print it and walk to the hotel.
Anyone could send it to me, but I've not my gpg key right here, will send it later. This is the one registered to my FAS account, and available there: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=vindex&search=0x97361B85A5BCB3A2

Seriously? My original message rejected because I am not subscribed? Not even held for manual inspection? Just plain sent to a sinkhole? Thanks. So I'm spending time trying to help and that's the reply I get? I'd suggest looking at the mailing list settings, because they seem medieval to me.
(10 second pause) OK. Frustration vented somewhat, but seriously. Ccing list admins to reconsider the settings. Or perhaps you are receiving tons of spam otherwise?

Right, so Tomas used his impeccable French to write them an email and ask about this "small" issue. After few back-and-forths the end result is that we can: 1. Go to hotel booking site [1] (as linked before) 2. Set arrvial/departure dates etc 3. Choose number of rooms/people you are booking for. Obviously works best if you fill the rooms (i.e. you will have X number of rooms with 2 people inside. In any case you don't fill in the names or anything like that anyway. 4. Several options pop up. I didn't play around, but there was one option that came to the 81euros/night as was suggested on the wiki 5. When finalizing the booking you will be required to put in your credit card number and expiration date. Apparently they don't charge the card until you check-in. It's just for verification purposes. 6. There is a comment field, so put "Fedora Group" in there.
Rest of the booking process should be fairly straightforward. At least I *hope* the reservation went well. I received a verification number, perhaps someone could then verify it went to the Fedora Group :-)

Hum… They should not have told you that, but as they were, fine :) Yes, they charge only the arrival day, as you can cancel your registration for free before the Dday.
In fact going through the website was not the easiest to handle for them, but as they asked you to do so… that's nice. ;).

Honestly - I have no idea/recollection about the spam (since apparently it's going to a black hole of doom now and not being held for moderation, hard to say :D) levels historically, and I didn't set up the mailing list originally. Paul - I know a while back you were looking at some of the lists with heavy-spam-patterns, was this one of the lists in question?
That said, if it's anything like the other lists I am on that have moderation for non-members, yeah, there's potentially a crapton of spam. This list does have mails from fedoraproject.org whitelisted (with some explicit spammy addresses blacklisted, like postmaster, etc), and I just added redhat.com mails as well, since we can probably expect that there are some redhat folks who may inquire about fudcons.
Let's see what Paul has to say about if this was one of the lists that got mega-spam.

Yes, this was a list that received a *LOT* of spam in the past, directly equating to a deluge of moderation every day for admins. That's why we don't auto-hold everything. Terribly sorry this impacted you Stanislav, your help is certainly appreciated! Hopefully the additional whitelisting of redhat.com should help.
One thing I do with lists where I don't really want to read everything but where I do pop in to help out occasionally: Subscribe and then set to NOMAIL, allowing my posts but keeping delivery quiet. Perhaps that might help as general guidance for occasional helpers?
