shawn.p.huang(a)gmail.com
Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Type: ---
Description of problem:
Since I upgrades to F16, I'm unable to have Finnish keyboard layout unless I
close ibus. Looks like there is no longer option to toggle ibus off, and that
it handles normal keyboard layouts too.
I however have the option "Use system keyboard layout" disabled in ibus,
because using other input methods like Russian is not possible with Finnish
keyboard layout, some of the letters cannot be typed then.
Essentially I cannot use ibus to type in other languages because I cannot write
properly in my own language if ibus is running.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
F16 (KDE), Ibus 1.4.0
How reproducible:
Always

Summary: gcin cannot be started via Ctrl+Space within Firefox and libreoffice
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734076
Summary: gcin cannot be started via Ctrl+Space within Firefox
and libreoffice
Product: Fedora
Version: 16
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: high
Priority: unspecified
Component: gcin
AssignedTo: candyz0416(a)gmail.com
ReportedBy: pswo10680(a)gmail.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: candyz0416(a)gmail.com,
i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
Classification: Fedora
Story Points: ---
Type: ---
Description of problem:
gcin is used by many Chinese (Traditional) users, because ibus-chewing has many
critical bugs not fixed yet.
gcin uses Ctrl+Space to start to input Chinese characters. I installed gcin,
gcin-gtk2, gcin-gtk3 and gcin-qt4.
gcin works well within gtk3 programs such as gedit, and it works well with qt4
programs like Amarok too.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.6.1
How reproducible:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. install gicn gcin-gtk2 gcin-gtk3 gcin-qt4 libreoffice amarok gimp first
2. siwtich im into gcin via im-chooser
3. log in again
4. use Ctrl+Space within gedit, firefox, libreoffice (e.g. Writer) and gimp
Actual results:
Only gedit, a gtk3 program, and amarok, a qt4 program can use Ctrl+Space to
input Chinese characters.
Expected results:
firefox, libreoffice and gimp can use Ctrl+Space to input Chinese characters.
Additional info: the test build of gcin-1.6.1.pre13-1 works well with all the
programs described above (
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=3023647), I have kept the
rpm.

--- Additional comment from greubel(a)nkey.de on 2010-11-21 06:43:14 EST ---
Workaround: Remove the nls package for eclipse. In my case this was
Nov 21 12:39:20 Erased: eclipse-nls-de
Then the problem seems to be gone.
--- Additional comment from akurtako(a)redhat.com on 2010-11-22 02:49:21 EST ---
So this is a problem with eclipse-nls. Changing component.
--- Additional comment from choeger(a)cs.tu-berlin.de on 2010-11-23 17:04:05 EST
---
Yeah, seems to be a bad formatted translation string. I hoped someone with a
little more spare time then me currently could figure out what string that was
from the backtrace and fix it. Maybe I could do it next week if noone steps in.
--- Additional comment from greubel(a)nkey.de on 2010-11-24 01:30:54 EST ---
If it helps: it occurs any time, when some entry in the error log appear (or
maybe also disappear - not tested). For example, if you compile a C Makefile
project which has some warnings (unused variables, etc.)
--- Additional comment from sflaniga(a)redhat.com on 2010-11-29 00:06:25 EST ---
I haven't had a chance to reproduce the problem yet, but does anyone want to
try the updated lang packs to see if they fix the problem?

You'll need to grab the base rpm:
eclipse-nls-3.6.0.v20100814043401-1.fc15.noarch.rpm
plus the 'de' rpm:
eclipse-nls-de-3.6.0.v20100814043401-1.fc15.noarch.rpm
