We retired the userspace wireless extensions, and in theory the kernel interfaces, in Fedora 36 but there was one driver that people actively used (the r8188eu in staging) but the rtl8xxxu driver now has support for all those devices and in 6.3 that staging driver was removed from upstream. We can now properly remove WEXT in the Fedora kernel. This is some minor cleanups and in reality we only lose the ancient 802.11b hermes drivers which are unlikely to be used by Fedora users now PowerMac and 32 bit x86 is long gone. [OS-BUILD PATCHv4 0/6] redhat: Add realtime build and packaging logic

The changes are confined to the 'redhat' directory of the kernel tree. The MR contains new config directories and script changes for generating configs, as well as Makefile and specfile changes to generate sub-packages of the kernel. The logic is currently disabled and will remain so until the remainder of the PREEMPT_RT patches are merged upstream. Once ARK starts inheriting this code from Linus' tree, we can enable them and start building rt and automotive kernels in ARK. What is the current procedure to patch the kernel in the spec file?

It has been ages since I wanted to patch the kernel when I built a custom kernel. I tried putting the patch in the spec file where the other patches were, but it doesn't apply. There is no error, or even indication that it saw the patch, so I am obviously doing it incorrectly. I'm building the kernel from the srpm using rpmbuild. It builds fine when unpatched. I can, of course, just untar the kernel tar file, apply the patch, and tar it. But, it should be simple to do from the spec file directly. Can anyone point me to the current procedure? From: Patrick Talbert <ptalbert(a)redhat.com> redhat: update filter-modules fsdrvs list to reference smb instead of cifs Since 38c8a9a5 ('smb: move client and server files to common directory fs/smb'), the cifs module lives under fs/smb/, not fs/cifs/, so the existing filter-modules entry does not filter out cifs.ko and it ends up in kernel-core where the necessary rdma symbols are not available. Fix this by adjusting the fsdrvs filter-modules entry.
