I have read a thread on lkml about stripped and not stripped modules...
so I checked if they are in fedora (2.6.21-1.3194.fc7) and it seems that
they aren't.
so I tested how much it would gain (size) so I picked some random module
(sata_nv.ko) copied it to my home folder and did the test:
original size: 40512
stripped size: 26912
so it seems that we are wasting ~50% of space by not doing this.
reason for this?
note: this was on x86_64

Kernel modules have their debuginfo stripped out (into kernel*debuginfo).
They cannot be stripped more than that without breaking intermodule symbol
resolution.
