Well, it makes a change from it being me :-)
I actually found the fault - or part of it, at any rate. For reasons
unknown, cobbler had forgotten about the network interface in the
"systems" bit; adding that in again helps quite a bit (I didn't see a
menu, but then I've only got one entry, so that's probably right).
I now get a kernel + initrd sent down the cable - which is nice. The
kickstart isn't working perfectly yet - need to do some debugging.
The biggest problem I seem to have is that the default installation
kernel/initrd don't support the forcedeth driver I need :-(
More seriously, it seems like you are using a old version of
syslinux
and need to upgrade it by installing a newer version from source.
This will fix your problem. I'm guessing you are using EL 4?
Yep. I have added a slightly newer syslinux (from Dag Wieers' repository),
because the original was pretty much non-functional. Given that I now have
some life, I'll try to persever with this for a little while...
