Same thing in all cases. I even created a completely new system,
specifying
only the name and the profile, and it still fails to render (it
should be
rendering the first and last line like in profile render view).

2) What is the md5 sum on your snippet? Here's mine for comparison:

I also pastebin'd mine to
http://cobbler.pastebin.com/m11ce6705 so you can
diff yours against it if the md5's differ.
