In which version of Cobbler is version X.Y of distro Z officially supported

HI All,

I having some difficulty finding out which version of Cobbler
introduces *official* support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2. In
some release notes there will be a mention of official support for a
particular distro version, but not often. For example, Cobbler version
2.2.1 says "Add support for Fedora16, rawhide, OpenSuSE 11.x and
12.1." That's awesome but other release notes don't always offer as
helpful and obvious details. Browsing Git source is laborious and so
far hasn't helped a whole lot. So, in general, is there a central
place (like a table) showing official support for distro version in
specific Cobbler versions? I haven't been able to find such a thing
and I'd love to have one. In fact, I'm willing to maintain a page on
the Cobbler wiki if I have proper information from the right people.

P.S. https://github.com/cobbler/cobbler/wiki/Distribution-support  is
a start but it's lacking. For example, the BSD/FreeBSD block doesn't
mention version numbers of BSD or Cobbler. Ubuntu/Debian block doesn't
mention versions supported, Kinda important to know. The SuSE block
only mentions SLES9 but Cobbler 2.2.1 adds support for OpenSuSE 11.x
and 12.x. You get my point. I'm happy to help correct this.

Hi Patrick,

I agree, there should be a table of supported OS'es on the website. This is
crucial information for (future) users, we need to improve communication
about these things. It's also nice to have such a table (test matrix) when
testing new releases, it's also something the community can help us out
with.

I've put it on my todo list.

Following up on this, i've created a wiki page for the upcoming 2.2.3
release.
It has the supported OS matrix, but it needs to be filled out (thus tested)
before the actual release.

I think this is an area where contributions from the community would be
very nice, even for the non-coder types it's a good way to contribute to
the project.

Unfortunately, not yet.

I guess it would be a good start to get a master checkout running and start
importing distro's. When time permits i'll start with just that,
documenting what to do and the expected results should not be too hard.
Let's see how it progresses from there, any help is very much appreciated.
Keep in mind that although the procedure might not be perfect, it's
probably an improvement...
