It was not but a year ago that I was having a similar discussion with a
friend of mine. He was, however, intending to make a profit out of it.
He apparently has/had connections with some fellows in Jabatan Agama
***, and was planing a nation wide roll out in all Mosques. As far as my
memory servers, the plan was to:
* Get Dell to provide 1 Server & about 5 to 10 Desktops (depending on
size of Mosque) with same business day on-site service for each Mosque.
* Desktops will be configured as kiosks using CF cards that can easily
be swapped out in case of corruption. Mosque will have spare CFs.
* Server will be configured as a slave machine that will sync from a
main server. That way all content in all Mosques will be the same.
* The servers will also have proxies installed with internet filters to
filter "inappropriate" content.
* Wireless AP for mobile devices.
* Information, forums & chats with regards to Islam
* Custom made software that teaches young children the Quran and keep
track their grades.
* Each Mosque attendee would paid about RM 5 a month for the upkeep of
the equipment, internet charges and a technician.
* Some other details that evade me at this time.
The discussion seemed to generate more question than answers. But as far
as I could tell, my friend was in it for a quick buck.
