Today at Fedora 18 Beta Change Deadline readiness meeting it was
decided to push back Fedora 18 freeze by one week due to
unfinished/non testable functionality required for the Beta release.
Agreed: Due to upgrade functionality not being in a testable state,
push schedule 1 week to allow it to land before entering beta freeze
(+1 6, 0 0, -1 0 for FESCo, +1 for the whole QA, +1 for FPGM).
Info: to use ticket #946 [1] to revisit the decision, freeze by default
next week.
Beta Change Deadline is now 2012-10-16.
See the full meeting log [2].
As a result, ALL MAJOR MILESTONES, and their dependent tasks,
will be pushed out by one week [3].

Meeting summary
---------------
* Roll Call (tflink, 16:00:18)
* Introduction (tflink, 16:10:52)
* Our purpose in this meeting is to review proposed blocker and
nice-to-have bugs and decide whether to accept them, and to monitor
the progress of fixing existing accepted blocker and nice-to-have
bugs. (tflink, 16:11:02)
* We'll be following the process outlined at: (tflink, 16:11:14)

(tflink, 16:11:26)
* 26 Proposed Blockers (tflink, 16:11:46)
* 13 Accepted Blockers (tflink, 16:11:47)
* 5 Proposed NTH (tflink, 16:11:47)
* 5 Accepted NTH (tflink, 16:11:47)
* (860551) black screen fedora 20120924-test_days-x86_64 (tflink,
16:13:40)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860551 (tflink,
16:13:40)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 16:13:40)
* AGREED: 860551 - RejectedBlocker, AcceptedNTH - While severe, this
seems to affect a very small subset of hardware and thus does not
qualify for blocker status. However, a well-tested fix would be
considered past freeze (tflink, 16:32:35)
* (860668) artifacts on xrestart with rv710 (tflink, 16:34:14)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860668 (tflink,
16:34:15)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 16:34:15)
* AGREED: 860668 - RejectedBlocker, RejectedNTH - There is only one
reporter on this bug and it doesn't prevent booting of the system.
This doesn't appear to be widespread enough to justify blocker
status. This could be fixed with an update, therefore it does not
qualify as NTH. (tflink, 16:39:33)
* (860712) [6550D SUMO] problems with second monitor on VGA, causing GPU
lockups (tflink, 16:39:40)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860712 (tflink,
16:39:43)
* Proposed Blocker, ASSIGNED (tflink, 16:39:45)
* AGREED: 860712 - RejectedBlocker - This does not affect enough
hardware to qualify as a blocker, has reasonable workarounds (unplug
second monitor) and could be fixed with an update (at least from
console) (tflink, 16:49:23)
* (752613) Nivida 100M on Lenovo W520 Wont boot if using Discrete
Graphics (tflink, 16:49:34)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=752613 (tflink,
16:49:37)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 16:49:40)
* AGREED: 752613 - RejectedBlocker, AcceptedNTH - This does not affect
enough hardware to qualify as a blocker for F18 beta. However, it is
an X showstopper for some and thus, a tested fix would be considered
for pulling in past freeze. (tflink, 17:06:16)
* (855560) F18 Live Alpha : nVidia GeForce 8600M GT, graphic driver
(nouveau): very poor performance (vesa is fluid) (tflink, 17:06:25)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855560 (tflink,
17:06:28)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:06:31)
* AGREED: 855560 - We need more information about potential
workarounds and kernel versions before making a decision on blocker
status. Will revisit at a later meeting. (tflink, 17:14:15)
* (860477) nouveau Xorg crash following boot (GTX 580) (tflink,
17:14:26)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860477 (tflink,
17:14:26)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:14:26)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=861646 (Martix,
17:24:37)
* AGREED: 860477 - RejectedBlocker, AcceptedNTH - While severe, this
appears to affect a small minority of hardware at the moment and
thus does not qualify as a blocker for F18 beta. However, it is an X
showstopper and thus qualifies as NTH. (tflink, 17:28:53)
* (860624) Gnome-shall hangs when requested activities (tflink,
17:29:03)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860624 (tflink,
17:29:03)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:29:03)
* AGREED: 860624 - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't clearly violate any
of the F18 beta release criteria and there are few reporters. Thus,
it doesn't qualify as a blocker for F18 beta (tflink, 17:39:22)
* (745202) gnome-shell does not display correctly with NV3x adapters -
multicolor corruption of panel, Shell-style menus and text [nvfx]
(tflink, 17:39:39)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=745202 (tflink,
17:39:41)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:39:44)
* adamw to pull together an info request to figure out if the
blacklist is indeed broken (tflink, 17:46:52)
* AGREED: 745202 - We need more information on this bug before
deciding on blocker status. If the blacklist is indeed broken for
F18, this would qualify as a blocker (tflink, 17:46:57)
* (844167) Error in PREIN scriptlet in rpm package
libvirt-daemon-0.9.11.4-3.fc17.x86_64 (tflink, 17:47:17)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844167 (tflink,
17:47:20)
* Proposed Blocker, ASSIGNED (tflink, 17:47:23)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844167 , where
prein scripts that create users fail when run with f17
selinux-policy . (adamw, 17:55:43)
* AGREED: 844167 - We need to test with the new upgrade tool before
making a decision on blocker status. Will re-visit at a later date
(tflink, 17:57:58)
* (861646) Sporadic GPU Lockups when Fast User Switching (tflink,
17:58:16)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=861646 (tflink,
17:58:16)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:58:17)
* AGREED: - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't clearly hit any of the F18
beta release requirements and at the moment, seems to be limited to
a small subset of hardware. Thus, rejected as a blocker for F18 beta
(tflink, 18:02:26)
* (861746) GDM login screen artefacts and corruption with Geforce 210
(tflink, 18:02:36)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=861746 (tflink,
18:02:36)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:02:36)
* AGREED: 861746 - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't clearly hit any of
the F18 beta release requirements and at the moment, seems to be
limited to a small subset of hardware. Thus, rejected as a blocker
for F18 beta. (tflink, 18:04:08)
* (858837) ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 doesn't boot LiveCD (tflink,
18:04:17)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=858837 (tflink,
18:04:17)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:04:17)
* AGREED: 858837 - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't clearly hit any of
the F18 beta release requirements and at the moment, seems to be
limited to a small subset of hardware. Thus, rejected as a blocker
for F18 beta. (tflink, 18:08:24)
* (862742) TypeError: coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer,
NoneType found (tflink, 18:08:38)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862742 (tflink,
18:08:41)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:08:43)
* AGREED: 862742 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 alpha
release criterion: "The installer must be able to complete an
installation using automatic partitioning to any sufficiently large
target disk, whether unformatted, empty, or containing any kind of
existing data" (tflink, 18:14:13)
* (862925) kernel: radeon 0000:01:05.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more
than 10000msec (tflink, 18:14:29)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862925 (tflink,
18:14:33)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:14:35)
* AGREED: 862925 - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't appear to affect
enough hardware to qualify as a blocker for F18 beta. Thus, rejected
as a blocker for F18 beta. (tflink, 18:20:21)
* (862537) Fedora 18 Beta TC1 DVD fails to boot (tflink, 18:20:31)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862537 (tflink,
18:20:31)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:20:31)
* AGREED: 862537 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 alpha
release criterion: "The installer must boot (if appropriate) and run
on all primary architectures, with all system firmware types that
are common on those architectures, from default live image, DVD, and
boot.iso install media when written to an optical disc and when
written to a USB stick with at least one of the officially supported
methods" (tflink, 18:24:41)
* (853508) PXE-install won't boot (tflink, 18:24:48)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=853508 (tflink,
18:24:48)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:24:48)
* AGREED: 853508 - This needs more testing before deciding on blocker
status. PXE has been reported as working for F18 beta TC1, request
retesting from the reporter to determine more details on what, if
anything, is still broken (tflink, 18:29:07)
* (824191) nfsiso install hangs during reboot (tflink, 18:35:25)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=824191 (tflink,
18:35:25)
* Accepted Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:35:25)
* no movement on this since 20120706 (tflink, 18:37:02)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862996 (adamw,
18:37:04)
* this really needs re-testing to determine whether it has been fixed
or if there are new issues (tflink, 18:38:01)
* 862996 could be related but that is PXE/nfsiso combined. Would
prefer to see retesting with just NFSISO (tflink, 18:38:38)
* (853877) anaconda ignores language / keyboard settings (tflink,
18:39:16)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=853877 (tflink,
18:39:16)
* Accepted Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:39:16)
* there has been no movement on this since 2012-09-13 (tflink,
18:41:20)
* we need status from anaconda devs for this bug (tflink, 18:41:36)
* (855526) f18a tc6 anaconda cannot connect to a protected wireless
network (tflink, 18:42:49)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855526 (tflink,

* Accepted Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:42:54)
* there has been no movement on this since 2012-09-23 (tflink,
18:43:30)
* it would be good to see re-testing with beta TC2 if there have been
changes in networking config in the installer (tflink, 18:44:46)
* (855849) could not UEFI boot F18 Alpha (TC6 through RC3) DVD or
netinst written to optical disc or dd'ed to USB: /dev/root does not

18:06:39 <miguelcnf> allright... so the name is Miguel and I'm from Portugal. As I've wrote to the list I've recently been working with l10n pt team and now I'm looking to help out the infrastructure team. I'm a system engineer and work with red hat/centos on a daily basis. It would be great if someone could invite me to the fi-apprentice group so I could start poking around and hopefully get some easyfix work. And I think thats pretty much it... Hi!
18:06:47 * abadger1999 here
18:07:06 <akshaysth> miguelcnf: welcome! :)

18:08:22 <nirik> Hopefully most of our staging changes will be gone before we go into the next freeze, but there will be more piling up I'm sure.
18:08:30 * nirik nods.
18:08:46 <nirik> ok, any other apprentice questions or new folks?

18:10:35 <pingou> I got a running version of a) fedocal b) election
18:10:40 <threebean> I'd really like to. If its not possible, in the short time, that's cool.
18:10:52 * lmacken has been doing a lot of fedmsg hacking this week, mostly client side stuff though
18:11:01 <nirik> well, happy to help try and do so... we can see. :)
18:11:01 <abadger1999> pingou: also got some jenkins nodes running in the euca cloud.
18:11:02 <threebean> lmacken++
18:11:08 <pingou> https://209.132.184.101/election - http://209.132.184.101/fedocal
18:11:21 <lmacken> oh yeah, the new jenkins slaves are awesome. http://jenkins.turbogears.org
18:11:24 <abadger1999> err -- "pingou also got"
18:11:33 <abadger1999> :-)
18:11:41 <smooge> what is fedocal?
18:11:42 <pingou> we have an EL6 and a F17 nodes running jenkins
18:11:47 <lmacken> still have to hook a bunch of projects into them, but it'll let us test everything across py2.4 - 3.x
18:11:49 <pingou> smooge: fedora calendar :)
18:11:50 <threebean> pingou: looks really clean
18:12:07 <nirik> there was talk about a python build instance a while back... would that be similar to this jenkins thing?
18:12:13 <smooge> pingou, thanks
18:12:14 <skvidal> pingou: I have a new el6 img I'd like to test - but if what you have is working we can just leave it alone :)
18:12:15 <abadger1999> nirik: yes it would
18:12:16 <pingou> wrt jenkins the question is, do we want to run our own master in the longer term
18:12:35 <lmacken> right now the master is run by me on a RH box at RIT
18:12:44 <jds2001> jenkins is some CI thing, right?
18:12:51 * nirik would like a sop on jenkins setup... and playbooks to do it, so we could easily redo it.
18:12:53 <abadger1999> nirik: Talk to dmalcolm about it -- I'm pretty sure it's different software so it might require more than just ssh access on the build-nodes.
18:12:54 <pingou> skvidal: it's not really working, it complains about the small space available on /
18:13:06 <pingou> jds2001: yes
18:13:15 <abadger1999> I think a master would be good if we want this to be something we do long term.
18:13:18 <lmacken> if we want to give it a proper host, I'm totally down for that. It's all dead simple for me to keep this one up (as long as the power on computer science house stays on)
18:13:21 <nirik> .ticket 1717
18:13:23 <zodbot> nirik: #1717 (buildbot for upstream python code) – Fedora Infrastructure - https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/1717
18:13:34 <skvidal> pingou: okay - then we'll talk after the meeting
18:13:54 <pingou> nirik: I have a "sop" for the nodes, it's dead simple
18:13:59 <abadger1999> Having a third-party master with a password to login to our boxes doesn't seem quite right for something we want to keep tight control of.
18:14:06 <pingou> nirik: for the master I'd need to do more testing
18:14:34 * nirik thinks it would be good to run the master too if we can... because we might want to script this for other projects to, or reuse it for them or the like.
18:14:42 <pingou> I'm thinking, master in a vm "bare-metal" and nodes on the clouds as we want/need
18:14:52 <pingou> skvidal: was offering to use ansible to deploy them
18:14:56 <lmacken> if we could get fas login to jenkins that would be nice
18:15:07 <pingou> lmacken: euh.. :D
18:15:30 <skvidal> pingou: we can write a playbook very easily if you have the steps you took to install it recorded somewhere
18:15:32 <pingou> abadger1999: note that we can use ssh keys, it just that I don't have a login on the master box
18:15:35 <skvidal> pingou: can you send me your notes?
18:15:51 <pingou> skvidal: http://www.fpaste.org/siAm/
18:15:54 <abadger1999> It would be both exciting and... somewhat scarey to support this for more people, I think.
18:16:21 <nirik> yeah, we don't want to bite off too much, but I think it would be perhaps a nice feature/thing.
18:16:23 <pingou> skvidal: most of the things are due to FedoraReview which requires quite some packages to be installed (mock, rpmlint...)
18:16:23 <skvidal> abadger1999: do we want to stick all of it on instances in the cloudlets and just reroll it all the time?
18:16:57 <abadger1999> skvidal: definitely for the build nodes. For the master we might want to be more formal about it.
18:16:57 <pingou> threebean: thanks bwt :)
18:17:06 <abadger1999> skvidal: I think pingou had some ideas.
18:17:11 <threebean> :)
18:17:15 <skvidal> abadger1999: cool.
18:17:33 <skvidal> abadger1999, pingou: let me know what I can do to facilitate the systems creation/[re]deployment
18:17:46 <pingou> skvidal: ansible for the nodes sounds really nice
18:17:48 <skvidal> despite what you've heard I can be helpful at times ;)
18:17:48 <nirik> I don't know that I would want to run master nodes in our regular internal net unless we are sure they are safe to do so... also is everything packaged? I think no?
18:17:53 <pingou> for the master, I need to set one up
18:18:10 <pingou> nirik: indeed, it is not
18:18:26 <pingou> nirik: not a problem for the nodes (jenkins adds its stuff on the nodes) but it will be for the master
18:18:32 <abadger1999> nirik: jenkins isn't packaged -- on the jenkins.tg.o master, I think we started with the upstream rpm and then have been using the application's update feature since then
18:18:33 <nirik> right
18:18:53 <lmacken> abadger1999: jenkins.tg.o == java -jar
18:18:54 <abadger1999> we would definitely want backup of the master
18:19:03 <pingou> nirik: upstream provides and rpm and a repo
18:19:06 <abadger1999> lmacken: k
18:19:29 <abadger1999> must be the jenkins server I expermineted with at home that started with the upstream rpm.
18:19:35 <pingou> lmacken: which is what the init script in the rpm do ;)
18:20:02 <lmacken> pingou: oh, nice :)
18:20:28 <nirik> so, I'd say lets keep discussing things and see what all we need and where would be good to have it... but not advertize or promise anything now. ;)
18:20:32 <pingou> lmacken: the rpm is just a big .jar and an init script, files are then extracted the first time you load it
18:20:37 <lmacken> I setup that instance at pycon like 3 or 4 years ago, and really haven't had to mess with it much since.
18:20:40 <nirik> perhaps a thread on the mailing list on it would be good for some general discussion
18:20:46 <lmacken> I do the auto upgrades every few weeks, and it's been very smooth
18:20:48 <abadger1999> lmacken, pingou: Can we prevent the master from running any build jobs on itself?
18:20:54 <pingou> nirik: imho, this is/should be infra restricted
18:21:00 <abadger1999> that would make it safer to keep the master around.
18:21:01 <lmacken> abadger1999: yeah, I think so. and go purely with slaves
18:21:05 <abadger1999> Cool.
18:21:31 <nirik> pingou: to start with for sure.
18:22:08 <nirik> so, lets explore some more and discuss...
18:22:17 <pingou> abadger1999: seems yes, not true for the nodes though (for obvious reason)
18:23:20 <nirik> any other applications news this week? hows the fas and pkgdb releases looking? ;)
18:23:41 * pingou wouldn't mind feedback on fedocal
18:23:55 <pingou> note: I put sysadmin-web as admin of fedocal
18:24:02 <nirik> pingou: I've been meaning to play with it, but haven't gotten the time.
18:24:05 <abadger1999> I'm pretty sure I can get pkgdb out before freeze.
18:24:13 <pingou> nirik: ok thanks :)
18:24:17 <smooge> what is the url?
18:24:30 <pingou> smooge: https://209.132.184.101//fedocal
18:24:32 <nirik> abadger1999: that would be good.
18:24:46 <abadger1999> there are some changes to production that I'm trying to track down and make sure they are applied in the repo first.
18:25:15 <smooge> that calender is too sethie for this world :)
18:25:22 <abadger1999> fas CodeBlock's been handling but everything I've seen looks like it's on track for going to prod too.
18:25:30 <nirik> excellent.
18:25:42 <nirik> oh, one other app news: I disabled raffle in production.
18:25:55 <skvidal> how about smolt? disabled, too?
18:25:56 <nirik> we were not using it and I wanted to rule it out of our httpd issues.
18:26:20 <nirik> skvidal: I think we have a timetable for smolt... going to announce that in a few days.
18:26:23 <abadger1999> Has disabling that changed things yet?
18:26:28 <skvidal> nirik: cool
18:26:36 <nirik> abadger1999: it's not died since then, but it is very sporadic.
18:26:47 <abadger1999> okay.
18:26:53 <nirik> https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/3495
18:27:02 <nirik> if anyone has debugging ideas or thoughts on that ^
18:27:12 <abadger1999> If thatturns out to be it... we'll have to think about how we deploy things in the future.
18:27:16 <nirik> it's anoying and I want to track it down and fix it.
18:27:32 <nirik> yeah, less mixing things on general app servers, more specific application servers.
18:27:41 <abadger1999> might be we'll need to keep tg2 stuff separated from tg1 stuff.
18:27:47 <abadger1999> <nod>
18:28:09 <abadger1999> that's even better (from a developer pov) :-)
18:28:25 <nirik> yeah, we kinda started moving to that with packages/tagger...
18:28:41 <abadger1999> <nod> although packages and tagger are on the same host.
18:28:58 <nirik> well, hosts, but yeah... since they were somewhat intertwined.
18:29:03 <nirik> #topic Sysadmin status / discussion
18:29:15 <lmacken> abadger1999: packags & tagger are also in the same puppet module :\
18:29:15 <nirik> so, we completed a mass reboot this week... went pretty smoothly.
18:29:27 <nirik> skvidal reinstalled all our builders.
18:29:34 <abadger1999> lmacken: :-( That is something to look at cleaning up.
18:29:46 <lmacken> abadger1999: yup, packags also has legacy community stuff in it too :P
18:30:09 <nirik> smooge: whats the status on new boxes? hopefully soonish?
18:30:16 <abadger1999> lmacken: File an easyfix ticket for separating those three? (It's all puppet so a lot could be cargo culted by a relatively new person)
18:30:20 <smooge> sean got the new keys.
18:30:35 <lmacken> abadger1999: will do
18:30:35 <smooge> so someone can configure virthost12 at the moment
18:30:43 <skvidal> nirik: and releng01, too
18:30:56 <smooge> I am working my way through the new IMM UI and key activation for the bkernel boxes
18:30:58 <nirik> skvidal: oh yeah. which is working fine. ;)
18:31:02 <skvidal> nirik: excellent
18:31:12 <skvidal> nirik: when/how do we want to move the rest of the releng infra?
18:31:37 <nirik> skvidal: I'd like to wait until we have the private/public setup and everything more organized.
18:31:48 <smooge> I hope to have bkernel01/bkernel02 up later today
18:32:07 <smooge> ousosl02 is waiting on network fixes on their side
18:32:17 <smooge> but I got a sort of install sort of working
18:32:20 <skvidal> nirik: understood
18:32:43 <nirik> skvidal: so, perhaps we get that all figured and we can start doing more after beta goes out.
18:32:53 <skvidal> nirik: not a problem
18:32:53 <smooge> does that cover it or am I talking over another conversation?
18:32:54 <skvidal> I concur
18:32:59 <nirik> smooge: sounds good.
18:33:09 <nirik> I think thats all the new machines accounted for.
18:33:18 <smooge> yep
18:33:42 <nirik> ok, any other new or upcoming sysadmin side stuff?
18:34:24 <nirik> moving on...
18:34:27 <nirik> #topic Private Cloud status update
18:34:36 <skvidal> we have clouds
18:34:39 <skvidal> and they are private
18:34:41 <skvidal> w00t
18:34:46 * skvidal wants his on private sun
18:34:54 <skvidal> maybe a private snowstorm or tornado
18:35:06 <nirik> heh
18:35:07 <pingou> but not too often
18:35:16 <pingou> and we have jenkins nodes on the cloud
18:35:16 <skvidal> we've been using/abusing the cloudlets in the last week
18:35:24 <nirik> so, the openstack cloud has a glusterfs backend... it seems like it's not very fast. ;(
18:35:26 <skvidal> and found places where both cloudlets are suboptimal
18:36:08 <skvidal> euca 3.1.2 is out - I'm going to see how well the cloud fares with an upgrade while running :)
18:36:18 <skvidal> nirik: what's the folsom timeline?
18:36:35 <nirik> I'm not sure... will be a bit longer for rhel packages I think.
18:36:49 <nirik> I'll try and find out.
18:36:56 <skvidal> nirik: cool
18:37:09 <nirik> we could also drop the gluster backend and see how that changes performance. I think reasonably easily.
18:37:35 <skvidal> nirik: but then we lose live migrate, right?
18:37:47 <nirik> yeah
18:37:48 <skvidal> nirik: can we tug the netapp in there via iscsi?
18:37:51 <nirik> and have less overall space
18:38:00 <nirik> ha ha ha ha.
18:38:07 <skvidal> nirik: :)
18:38:30 <nirik> we will have some more storage options there if our vfilers show up and work as we would hope...
18:39:09 <nirik> anyhow, lets keep testing and poking at them...
18:39:16 <skvidal> I concur
18:39:28 <skvidal> nirik: things we need to think about with the clouds
18:39:36 <skvidal> - long term HA
18:39:40 <skvidal> - medium term - backups
18:39:55 <nirik> monitoring
18:39:56 <skvidal> - medium/short - AuthN/AuthZ
18:40:41 <skvidal> nirik: agreed
18:40:55 <smooge> I hear ldap
18:41:54 <nirik> there's lots of cute things we could do to make them more nifty for people too on setup... ie, could we have a fas group(s) setup for ssh, a automatic git repo setup to save off data, etc.
18:42:38 <nirik> anyhow, lets keep poking at them...
18:42:49 <nirik> #topic Security FAD update
18:43:12 <nirik> So, some progress on this... we have a conference room reserved now in the tower.
18:43:26 <nirik> we need to gather final numbers and run it by numbers people.
18:44:07 <nirik> we should also ping people one last time... make sure they can or cannot make it or ask people who are important to the goal.
18:44:47 <nirik> so, I will send to the list, and ping folks, and we will send out budget request monday?
18:44:56 <nirik> anything else we should plan on this?
18:45:08 <abadger1999> wfm
18:45:28 <smooge> wfm
18:46:06 <smooge> I am trying to figure out if I can fly out early to SC see my parents, drive up for the FAD and then leave from SC. The flights were actually cheaper that way... but have to find out if I can borrow one of the parents cars
18:46:10 <nirik> the fad faq thing suggests we should also plan some activities/etc... perhaps we could tour skvidal's bike collection. ;)
18:46:36 <skvidal> nirik: I took a survey... no one likes you
18:46:37 <skvidal> :)
18:46:49 <nirik> ha.
18:46:51 <smooge> hey his bike shed is better off than some of our houses
18:47:01 <pingou> skvidal: all the one personn you asked agreed ?
18:47:05 <smooge> skvidal, got to that line in Portal2 again last night
18:47:06 <skvidal> pingou: yep
18:47:09 <nirik> anyhow... anything else on this? or shall we move on?
18:47:21 <pingou> nirik: skvidal
18:47:30 <pingou> nirik: skvidal's bike collection or the bike shed itself ? :)
18:47:41 <skvidal> pingou: I have lots of various colors of paint
18:47:42 <skvidal> for the shed
18:47:45 <skvidal> cmon down
18:47:57 <nirik> #topic Upcoming Tasks/Items

17:00:08 <nirik> who all is around for an irc support sig meeting?
17:00:15 * Discordian is
17:01:48 <nirik> cool. lets wait another minute or two for others to wander in.
17:01:56 <Discordian> Okay
17:03:41 <nirik> alright then... lets go ahead.
17:03:50 <nirik> #topic Week in review
17:03:51 <nirik> http://fedora.theglaserfamily.org/ircstats/fedora-weekly.html
17:04:08 <nirik> anything new or exciting this last week?
17:04:14 <nirik> seemed pretty typical to me.
17:04:14 <Discordian> Looks like a quiet week
17:04:45 <nirik> yeah
17:05:05 <nirik> #topic ticket 130 User [R] belligerent
17:05:05 <nirik> https://fedorahosted.org/irc-support-sig/ticket/130
17:05:31 <nirik> I added my thoughts there. I didn't really see what they were talking about...
17:05:56 <Discordian> I see mostly netsplits
17:06:10 <Discordian> Which is always confusing
17:06:26 <nirik> yeah
17:06:43 <nirik> so, I'm fine with closing this one.
17:06:49 <Discordian> I can't see any actual discussion between them.
17:06:52 <nirik> yeah
17:07:14 <nirik> #topic ticket 129 Great help on cleaning up the distribution after an upgrade
17:07:14 <nirik> https://fedorahosted.org/irc-support-sig/ticket/129
17:07:25 <nirik> kudos to BobJensen and fenrus02
17:07:31 <Discordian> Kudos to both yes
17:07:51 <nirik> keep up the good work. Nice to get positive feedback from time to time.
17:08:37 <nirik> #topic Open Floor
17:08:43 <nirik> any items for open floor?
17:09:05 <Discordian> Sorry about that
17:09:29 <nirik> no worries. ;)
17:09:34 <nirik> You have anything for open floor Discordian ?

== Attendees ==
=== Present ===
* Eric Christensen
* John Rose
* Robyn Bergeron
* Toshio Kuratomi
* Garrett Holmstrom
* Peter Robinson
* Christoph Wickert
* Nick Bebout
* David Nalley
=== Absent ===
* Jaroslav Reznik
== Announcements ==
* Secure boot update:
** releng changes are being worked on by the Feature Owners
* FUDCon Paris will be in progress next week.
* Next meeting: IRC, 2012-10-11
== CWG - potential nominees, etc. ticket 145 ==
* Toshio will be contacting the nominees as submitted on the ticket,
asking if they're even interested in participating.
== #147: Approve logo use for GitHub organization "fedora-openstack" ==
* Similar to the fedora-jboss-as project on github that we did grant
* Is this a RH project or is this more of a Fedora-community project?
* Why not fedorahosted? (what does github provide)
* What about this makes it a Fedora effort?
** For example, is this being talked about with the Fedora Cloud SIG?
** Are the Fedora packagers currently working on packaging Openstack
involved?
* Also a desire to make generic TM guidelines for using the trademark
in github projects
== #146: Fedora 19 Naming process - update ==
* Schedule -- Bump submission to legal back a week [DATE]
* Make the vetting process more public this time?
* We'll have a week for the Board to vet this time. So procedure:
** We'll divide up the list at one Board Meeting and work on it that week.
** if we have no questions when we vet => move to a new table of
vetted names
** if we do have questions or don't get to it => leave on the original
table
** On the Board meeting day, we'll vet any names that are still in the
original table as a group
== #144: Hidden Private Builds ==
* Would be an incredible amount of work to make Koji work with a new
process allowing public/private builds.
* No philosophical problem with having private builds where the source
and binary packages are subsequently made public at the same time
* Some would like to limit to CVE/Security embargoed items
* Proposal: The Board has no philosophical issue with private builds
for security embargoes. If someone is willing to work with
infrastructure and releng to do it, that's fine. To be clear, the
Board is not requiring that infra and releng work on this -- someone
needs to work with them if they want it.
** Conditions: When the build is released, both source and binary must
go out at the same time
** Some Fedora group will need to have the ability to approve that a
specific package can make private builds for a certain issue. The
ability to create the private builds should not be for every packager.
== #141: Voting on board issues & transparency - back to the drawing
board? ==
* A new proposal will be added to the Trac ticket.
== Possible discussion on new meeting time ==
* Only five people have submitted their availability.
* http://whenisgood.net/3a7a9nz/results/j5iw9i
* Submit your availability at http://whenisgood.net/3a7a9nz
* DST: Oct 28 (EU); Nov 4 (US)

* ACTION: tflink to investigate 847831 and poke anaconda devs if
needed (tflink, 16:18:01)

broken here - will revisit once that data is available (tflink,
16:20:12)

* (847472) DM configuration migration on upgrade not working (tflink,
16:29:36)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=847472 (tflink,
16:29:37)
* Proposed Blocker, ON_QA (tflink, 16:29:37)
* AGREED: 847472 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 beta
release criterion: "It must be possible to successfully complete an
upgrade from a fully updated installation of the previous stable
Fedora release with the 'minimal' package set or the package set for
a release-blocking desktop, using any officially recommended upgrade
mechanism. The upgraded system must meet all release criteria."
(tflink, 16:37:23)
* (855976) In F18 Alpha, 'automatic' partitioning simply wipes your
entire disk without warning you first (tflink, 16:37:45)

16:37:48)
* Proposed Blocker, MODIFIED (tflink, 16:37:50)
* AGREED: 855976 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 beta
release criterion: "The installer must be able to complete an
installation using automatic partitioning to a validly-formatted
disk with sufficient empty space, using the empty space and
installing a bootloader but leaving the pre-existing partitions and
data untouched" (tflink, 16:46:52)
* (835648) kernel freeze after [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810 on
T520 with Quadro NVS 4200M (tflink, 16:47:28)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=835648 (tflink,
16:47:31)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 16:47:34)
* AGREED: 835648 - RejectedBlocker, RejectedNTH - While serious, it
affects a minority of hardware configurations and appears easy to
workaround. Rejected as blocker for F18 beta, please re-propose if
it turns out that the workaround doesn't work or more HW is affected
than our current understanding (tflink, 16:57:04)
* (856938) Native UEFI install from F18 Alpha RC3 DVD written to USB
with livecd-iso-to-disk fails to boot (tflink, 16:58:27)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856938 (tflink,
16:58:30)
* Proposed Blocker, VERIFIED (tflink, 16:58:33)
* this bug is fixed but update is not yet in stable - doesn't need any
review - skipping (tflink, 17:00:50)

* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859632 (tflink,
17:01:02)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:01:02)
* AGREED: 859632 - More data on the cause of this bug is needed before
we make a decision on blocker status (tflink, 17:24:59)
* (856362) KeyError: 'la-latin1' (tflink, 17:25:07)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=856362 (tflink,
17:25:07)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:25:07)
* AGREED: 856362 - This was filed against preupgrade - we need to see
if the new tool is affected before deciding on blocker status
(tflink, 17:28:29)
* (859224) Please take systemd-logind's
handle-power-key/handle-suspend-key/handle-hibernate-key/handle-lid-switch
inhibitor locks if GNOME wants to handle the respective keys on its
own (tflink, 17:31:15)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859224 (tflink,
17:31:19)
* Proposed Blocker, ON_QA (tflink, 17:31:22)
* AGREED: 859224 - RejectedBlocker - Since this appears to only affect
suspend, it doesn't affect any of the F18 beta release criteria and
thus is not a blocker for F18 beta. If this is still a significant
issue during freeze, please re-propose as NTH (tflink, 17:38:52)
* (862221) repo.getPackage(po) fails with yum-3.4.3-44 but works using
git master (tflink, 17:39:09)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862221 (tflink,
17:39:12)
* Proposed Blocker, ON_QA (tflink, 17:39:14)
* LINK: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/OfflineSystemUpdates
(Viking-Ice, 17:41:02)
* AGREED: 862221 - RejectedBlocker, RejectedNTH - This does not
violate any F18 beta release criteria and thus does not qualify for
blocker status. This does affect a F18 feature but that doesn't
qualify for NTH by itself, either (tflink, 17:43:07)
* (860791) IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0' (tflink, 17:43:16)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860791 (tflink,
17:43:19)
* Proposed Blocker, POST (tflink, 17:43:22)
* AGREED: 860791 - This bug is really vague and we need more
information before making a decision on blocker status (tflink,
17:52:31)
* (860276) UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character
u'\xe9' in position 10: ordinal not in range(128) (tflink, 17:52:48)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860276 (tflink,
17:52:51)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:52:53)
* AGREED: 860276 - This appears to be a symptom of 858591, mark as a
duplicate (tflink, 17:59:35)
* (860430) RFE: dual boot support in newui (tflink, 17:59:44)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=860430 (tflink,
17:59:44)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 17:59:45)
* AGREED: 860430 - This may be a blocker but as currently written,
does not violate any criteria. Will re-visit at a later meeting once
it has been clarified (tflink, 18:09:35)
* (859485) « Copy settings » to system in G-C-C's « Region &
Language » panel causes weird keyboard behavior (tflink, 18:09:48)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859485 (tflink,
18:09:51)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:09:53)
* AGREED: 859485 - RejectedBlocker - This doesn't hit any of the F18
beta release criteria and thus is rejected as a blocker. (tflink,
18:13:23)
* (859614) [abrt] systemd-analyze-191-2.fc18:
connection.py:651:call_blocking:DBusException:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Failed: Resource temporarily unavailable
(tflink, 18:13:40)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=859614 (tflink,
18:13:43)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:13:46)
* ACTION: adamw to re-test the tty bug with the new systemd build when
lennart submits it (adamw, 18:23:17)
* AGREED: 859614 - Since this bug isn't against the stable version of
systemd, it doesn't qualify as a blocker for F18 beta. De-propose as
a blocker for F18 beta, if 190+ is pushed stable before freeze,
re-propose as blocker (tflink, 18:26:09)
* (862612) anaconda freezes after clicking on "+" in keyboard layout
settings (tflink, 18:26:23)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862612 (tflink,
18:26:26)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:26:28)
* AGREED: 862612 - AcceptedBlocker - Conditional violation of the
following F18 alpha release criterion for non-US keyboards: "The
installer must be able to complete an installation using the text,
graphical and VNC installation interfaces" (tflink, 18:33:07)
* (862613) ValueError: cannot initialize a disk that has partitions
(tflink, 18:33:21)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862613 (tflink,
18:33:21)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:33:21)
* AGREED: 862613 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 beta
release criterion: "The installer must be able to complete an
installation using automatic partitioning to a validly-formatted
disk with sufficient empty space, using the empty space and
installing a bootloader but leaving the pre-existing partitions and
data untouched" (tflink, 18:36:14)
* (851114) RepoError: SQLite objects created in a thread can only be
used in that same thread (tflink, 18:36:22)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851114 (tflink,
18:36:25)
* Proposed Blocker, ASSIGNED (tflink, 18:36:28)
* AGREED: 851114 - AcceptedBlocker - Conditional violation of the
following F18 alpha release criterion (it is a timing bug that is
very easy to hit): "The installer must be able to install each of
the release blocking desktops, as well as the minimal package set,
with each supported installation method" (tflink, 18:38:55)
* (862557) repoclosure failure on 18 Beta TC1 DVDs (kernel) (tflink,
18:39:07)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862557 (tflink,
18:39:07)
* Proposed Blocker, ASSIGNED (tflink, 18:39:07)
* AGREED: 862557 - AcceptedBlocker - Violates the following F18 alpha
release criterion: "There must be no file conflicts (cases where the
files in some packages conflict but the packages have explicit
Conflicts: tags are acceptable) or unresolved package dependencies
during a media-based (DVD) install" (tflink, 18:46:50)
* (862784) error: rpmdb open failed (tflink, 18:46:55)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862784 (tflink,
18:46:57)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:47:00)
* ACTION: adamw to discipline himself for bad drafting (adamw,
18:57:47)
* AGREED: 862784 - As currently written, this does violate the F18
beta release requirements but this is an unintended consequence of
recent re-wording. Will re-visit next meeting once there has been a
chance for criteria revision (tflink, 18:58:33)
* (862006) NameError: global name 'size_func_kwargs' is not defined
(tflink, 18:58:38)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862006 (tflink,
18:58:38)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 18:58:39)
* AGREED: 862006 - AcceptedBlocker (final) - It's still unclear
whether or not this qualifies as a beta blocker for F18 but is a
clear final blocker - will re-visit beta blocker status once we have
more clarity on the status of LVM as a common partition type
(tflink, 19:14:54)
* (862801) Anaconda hangs when 'Configuring installed system' (tflink,
19:15:45)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862801 (tflink,
19:15:46)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 19:15:46)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862801#c8
(satellit, 19:19:29)
* AGREED: 862801 - We need more information on what exactly is causing
this and whether it is hardware specific before making a decision on
blocker status (tflink, 19:21:42)
* (790365) Can't resume from suspend to RAM: Black screen and laptop
frozen (tflink, 19:21:56)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=790365 (tflink,
19:21:59)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 19:22:02)
* (847818) Radeon RS690M/X1200 screen corruption beyond
kernel-3.4.6-2.fc17.i686 (tflink, 19:27:23)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=847818 (tflink,
19:27:26)
* Proposed Blocker, NEW (tflink, 19:27:29)
* LINK: http://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/current (Martix,
19:28:32)
* AGREED: 847818 - RejectedBlocker AcceptedNTH - This appears to only
affect a single adapter which isn't enough to justify blocker status
for F18 beta. However, it is enough to justify NTH - a well tested
fix would be accepted past freeze (tflink, 19:39:55)
* LINK: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=862591 nice to
have? (satellit, 19:39:57)
* Next Meeting (tflink, 19:40:21)
* Blocker review will continue 2012-10-04 @ 16:00 UTC (tflink,
19:42:10)
