resizing Xen para-virtualized guest partition
by runmd
I would like to know if it is possible to resizing Xen para-virtualized
guest partition. For example,
I created a para-virtualized guest as 10GB. Later down the road I would
like to grow it to 20GB. Can I do this with it being just a file on Dom0.
The only possible solution I can think of is creating a new domU as 20GB and
then doing a dd command and copying one virutal disk to another. But I
would like to just grow the guest, if possible.
Thanks

Re: [Fedora-xen] Why I can't save and restore domU.
by 전상일
Thank you for your concern.
My system is Para-virtualization.
I successed save/restore and migrate the virtual machine of gui.
But, the domU is not fedora core 6 but fedora 7(rc2).
Someone said me that fedora core 6 is support old framebuffer.
So, He guess that this situation appeared.
I think that fedora 7 is support framebuffer more perfectly.
In fack, I'm not fix setting files at the success case.

How to migrate a QEMU VM to Xen?
by Thomas Kocourek
I have been using QEMU for some time and the virtual machine works very
well. Is there a way to copy over the virtual machine from QEMU to XEN?

how to get non-compressed vmlinux for Oprofile
by Songtao Liu
Hi,*
A question about how to get the non-compressed vmlinux, not vmlinuz, reasons as follows:
when I want to run Oprofile, I should run this command
# opcontrol --start --vmlinux=/boot/vmlinux-'uname -r'
But firstly I should get the vmlinux, otherwise the following error will pop up:
The specified file /boot/vmlinux-uname does not seem to be valid
Make sure you are using the non-compressed image file (e.g. vmlinux not vmlinuz)
I am running the Oprofile on fedora with kernel-xen 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6xen, as the latest kernel-xen version 2.6.20-1.2948 is very unstable. So I don't want to update my current kernel-xen.
How can I get the vmlinux??
In fact if I run this:
yum --enablerepo=core-debuginfo --enable=updates-debuginfo install\ kernel-debuginfo
and then
# rpm -q --list kernel-xen-debuginfo | grep vmlinux
/usr/lib/debug/lib/modules/2.6.20-1.2948.fc6xen/vmlinux
I will get the 2.6.20-1.2948.fc6xen vmlinux, the latest one, which doesn't match my kernel-xen 2.6.19-1.2911.6.5.fc6xen.
How can I get the vmlinux which matches my kernel-xen?

Any hints will be greatly appreciated!!!

2.6.20-2925.9.fc7xen - No sound, crashing audio app.
by Naoki
Booted to this (64-bit) kernel under rawhide (well, f7), and noticed
under my i386 firefox with flash 9 that flash plugins would just stop
after a few seconds. So I tested Rythmbox and it hung and needed a
force quit the first time I tried to play an MP3.
No errors in messages. Everything find under non-xen kernel
(2.6.21-1.3194.fc7).
Any ideas or should I file a bug? I'm somewhat reluctant to file a bug
now given the appalling lack of information I have yet.

Recompilation or Disassembly Prohibited
by Elizeu Santos-Neto
Hi folks,
My machine have the following configuration:
Motherboead: Intel Chipset DQ965GF
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz
Video: Intel Broadwater-G
I've installed Fedora 6 + xen-kernel version 2.6.20-2952 using the
"yum" based set of steps.
So, when I boot, everything goes well up to the point where the
graphical login screen is going to show up. It's when I get the
following message:
Intel Broadwater-G PCI Accelerated SVGA BIOS
Build number: 1348 PC 14.18 06/22/2006 11:01:34
RECOMPILATION OR DISASSEMBLY PROHIBITED
Copyright....
The interesting part is that I'm able to login to the machine via SSH,
but not interactively. Looking at the /var/log/messages e xen related
logs, there is no error message that may give some clue.
# xm dmesg also does not give any info.
So, have you guys seen such problem before? Do you guys know if any
boot option could cause this behavior?
Thanks in advance,
Elizeu

by Jordi Prats
Hi all,
This is a really simple question, but I can't find how to do it using yum.
I have a dual core system, but my Fedora Core 6 is only showing me one
processor (cat /proc/cpuinfo)
How can I install a Xen dom0 with smp support using yum?
Thank you!

Boot fails with 2.6.20-295.10.fc7
by Langdon Stevenson
I have just downloaded and installed the 2.6.20-295.10.fc7.i686.rpm
First question: Is this the correct package for my hardware?
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e6600
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6
Assuming that it is the right package: When I boot, the xen kernel, it
gets a lot further than it did with 7, 8, or 9, but it still crashes,
followed immediately by a reboot.
I haven't worked out if there is a log file of the boot output (any
pointers there appreciated), but I have taken a photo of the screen just
before reboot. It includes the following:
<snip>
===============================
BUG: scheduling while atomic: rc.sysinit/0xc1fcc050/433
1 lock held by rc.sysinit/428:
#0: (&mm-)mmap_sem){....}, at: [(c11f7518)] do_page_fault+0x63a/0xc7h
[(c1005d3a)] show_trace_log_lvl_0x1a/0x2f
<snip>
===============================
Kernel panic - not syncing: Aiee, killing interrupt handler!
I hope that this is useful. If I can provide any more info please let
me know.

Langdon
