Hi Julita,
Normally FAD's do not have a promotion event. There has been two times
where FAD budgets where requested and deny because they contain some
promotional event or time. That is why I want to make sure you
understand the limitation on FAD. It is not up to me to decide if the
event will be approve, therefore my intention is to consider the
possibility of no promotional event.
I don't don't know this history, but
wearing my council hat, I can't see
why a promotion component would lead to automatic denial.
However, I would want to understand how this compent was good for LATAM
or the country or the city. I'd want to know how it ties to the mission,
if appropriate. I'd want to know how it will be followed up or prepared
for to ensure positive impact.
However, my biggest concern would be that it be clear this promotion
won't prevent the rest of the FAD from accomplishing its goals.
Regards,
bex
How ever you can do packaging workshops or translation sprint (as
example) with people that are already familiar with Fedora and want to
become contributors.>
This may work better with the FAD proposal, specially if you have some
people prepare for that.>

Hi Alejandro
What I followed so far (please correct me in case I am wrong), is that
I could arrange in Lima a place with facilities as labs with good
Internet connection, searching hotels and restaurants for at least 7
ambassadors from LATAM (I do not know exactly who is invited yet).>
I am also aware about the purspose of the meeting: to state some
procedures face to face in order to have a better Fedora community.>
I mentioned the coliseum as part of the event (two hours for the first
day) because as you know I do per year at least five or six events to
promote Fedora and still people in Lima, we have a low percentage of
knowledge about Linux. And, because I can not go everywhere all the
time to do more workshops (because I also need to work), I did a free
online tutorial of Fedora to everyone in Backtrackacademy. [01]>
I "though" that it could be great if I have the honour to have all of
you in Lima (Ambassadors with expertise in Fedora) I could do one
public event day with all of you as speakers and trainers that can
teach my local people to do real contributions as packaging,
translations, wiki manteiners, among other activities.>
The coliseum could be useful for the first two hours (for install
activities to everyone in Lima who is intersted in having Fedora).> Please believe me,
if this activity is so simple for most of us, for
newbies is a challenge in case they have Wifi problems and other
technician issue that I know can happen.>
The second day (this plan is still in my head) we can do more private
meetings to set up (with a better view from the previous day) the
actions and plans to have a better community.>
I know that before I have you online in my events but it is not the
same to have a face to face training or talk to somebody in person.> In this sense, I
will always appreciate the labor of Neville, because
he is always available anytime to response with a online talk to my
people in Lima.>
Please let me know if Fedora still want me to do that event in USIL,
Lima, Peru in July to present a formal plan to the authorities.>
Best,
Julita
