hotel for fudcon tempe 2011
by Seth Vidal
I've been hearing some issues with the price of the hotel in tempe. I
asked eunice (my S.O.) who did the hotel research for boston a few years
back and she found that the courtyard marriott downtown tempe is:
here:
http://tinyurl.com/35548mb
and if you look you can see it is 2 blocks from the mission palm place.
I've confirmed they have 35 rooms available for jan 28th -> feb 1st.
The rooms are $112/night after taxes and all that silliness w/o ANY
negotiation.
Is it worth considering?
it's 1/4 mile (~1/2Km) from where that hotel is to where the more
expensive one is.
And it's significantly cheaper.
thoughts?

Southwest Airline Bookings
by Eric Shubert
SWA (http://www.southwest.com/) is now booking through March 11, so
travel to FUDCon can now be booked with them. The cheapest fares are
available through Thursday (8/19/10), so hop on it. Cheapest fares *may*
be available later, but I wouldn't count on it. Book your flight *now*
to lock in the best fare.

Sponsors. Do we want? Do we need?
by Robyn Bergeron
It has been discussed at various points that we have the option of
getting sponsors for FUDCon in Tempe. I'd like to see if we can come
to a concrete decision on this so that if we do want to try to get
sponsors, we can do so.
I'll try to bulletpoint as best I can here. (In wiki format, no less, hah!)
* Are we kosher, in general, with the idea of having sponsors pick up
the tab for various items?
* Since we have the problem of not being able to accept money, our
best option is to take sponsorships for things other than travel where
vendors can pay for items directly, or may payment prearrangements /
limits. Possibilities include the list below. Are there any items I
have missed, and does anyone have any problems with the things I have
listed?
** Badges
** Signage / Banners / flyers / other general printing
** Tee-shirts (name of sponsor(s) on the back), Fedora/FUDCon on the front.
** Food, including:
*** Light Breakfasts - one of or all of three days
*** Lunches
*** FUDPub
*** Friday night hospitality suite food
*** Drinks (the non-alcoholic kind during the day - coffee, soda, water, etc.)
*** Intarwebz fat pipez
* If yes to any of the above items - do we want to do the following in
an upcoming meeting:
** Assign an approximate value of what the associated costs would be
for sponsoring for each item we choose to have sponsored
** Craft - or request someone to craft for us - a sponsorship prospectus
* I have a list of potential sponsors in a ticket in trac (just to be
polite, and all, as this is a public list). Does anyone have any
other suggestions? (Also - no idea what the milestone shoudl be for
this - would imagine we'd want to get stuff squared away fairly soon.)

If i've missed anything, let me know.

We should be able to buy a handful (5 or 6) airfares for Fedora
Engineering team members out of our Q2 budget given our current balance.
Now that the announcement is out, let's encourage team members to do these
purchases quickly, and let us know their plans so we don't overspend.
