As some of you who follow the devel list may know, Matthew put forward the idea of starting to move some discussion over to discussion.fedoraproject.org (our hosted dicourse instance) instead of the mailing list.
For those of you who don't know: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/... (and the long thread after it).
Please do read that. I'll wait.
ok. So, my question is:
Should we look at moving to discussion.fedoraproject.org instead of this list? We have a tag there already.
I've personally setup discourse to email me things, so it actually ends up being very similar to a list, with a few corner cases. I'm happy to help anyone who has trouble with that setup.
Thoughts?

I have not gotten the email side to work without it sending me everything posted ever or nothing at all. So I would need some help on setup.
I am not really enthusiastic about this change but my involvement in infrastructure is not as big as it was. Having the team try it for a couple of months may help on getting other tools to work.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure how you'd like to set it up, so I'm assuming you just want to have the infrastructure stuff delivered to your inbox.
Head over to https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/tag/infrastructure-team and click the bell in top right corner and select 'Watching'. That should enable notifications for anything that is tagged with '#infrastructure-team'.
In the email settings [1] you need to have the first two options enabled. I have them set to 'always'. The other options are personal preference and have no influence on subscribed notifications, afaict.
I hope that helps.

... you may also want to check settings under https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/u/smooge/preferences/tracking and clean up everything you're not interested in.
Then, if you'd like to have messages delivered in separate folders for each category/tag, you can use the X-Headers in the email sent by Discourse ("X-Discourse-Category" and "X-Discourse-Tags").
I've already tried to reply by email to a post and it worked. But I've not tried to start a new thread.

I'm still wading through the backlog. But replies appear to come in quicker than time I currently have available reading.

I think the infrastructure list is sufficiently low volume and usually read by people knowledgeable enough to sort stuff out or ask for help in the proper channels, making it a good guinea pig.
Having said that, one major thing that's not quite clear to me yet, is how to start threads by e-mail. I believe that's currently not possible and I don't like switching back and forth between two interfaces. But with the low volume and me generally being a reader, rather than a poster, I'll manage for the time being.

Yes.

Perfect.

The KISS principle always works. Plain text only approach used to be simple, but this is no longer true. Streamline towards the web and smartphone-friendly platforms (Discussion and Matrix) is a move in the right direction.
I'm not against moving our mailing list to discourse, life is a change.
I just need to adjust my workflow to this :-)

I could live with it fine.
