Having some issues with lockd dying on nfs1 - kevin fenzi was nice enough to point out:

which suggests trying one of the kernels from:
http://people.redhat.com/dzickus/el5/
so - any objections if I try one of those on nfs1 to see if it cures what ails us?

Sure. we've tried everything else and the problem continues. Its better then it was but nfs is still aboard the failboat.
