Greetings.
You are getting this email because you are in the 'fi-apprentice' group in the fedora account system (or are reading this on the infrastructure list).
Feel free to reply just directly to me, or cc the infrastructure list for everyone to see and comment on.

At the first of every month(or so), I am going to be sending out an email like this one. I would like feedback on how things are going for you.
I'd like to ask for everyone to send me a quick reply with the following data or anything related you can think of that might help us make the apprentice program more useful.
0. Whats your fedora account system login?
1. Have you logged in and used your fi-apprentice membership to look at our machines/setup in the last month? Do you plan to?
2. Has it helped you decide any area you wish to focus on or contribute to more?
3. Have you looked at or been able to work on any of the fi-apprentice 'easyfix' tickets? https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/report/14
4. Do you still wish to be a member of the group? If not (for whatever reason) could you provide any hints to help others down the road?
5. Is there any help or communication or ideas you have that would help you do any of the above?
6. What do you find to be the hardest part of getting involved? Finding things to work on? Getting attention from others to help you? Finding tickets in your interest area?
7. Have you been able to make any weekly irc meetings? Do you find them helpful or interesting?
8. Do you have any pets?
Any other general feedback is also quite welcome, including improvements to this email, the wiki page, etc.
Any folks I do not hear from in the next week will be removed from the group. (Note that it's easy to be readded when you have time or whatever and it's nothing at all personal, we just want to keep the group up to date with active folks).
Thanks, and looking forward to your feedback!

1. Yes, I have logged in and looked at the app list. Also logged into Nagios to have a look at the setup.
2. Yes, this has helped me find technologies I am familiar with and would like to help out on.
3. I have looked, but have not tried to work on any of the tickets yet.
4. Yes, I still want to be a member of the group, and plan on looking at tickets.
5. Not at this time.
6. Finding things to work on is what I am focusing on now since I had just joined.
7. There has not been a meeting yet, I just joined yesterday.
8. No pets. Used to have a German Shepard.
Thank you, Jon

1. Have you logged in and used your fi-apprentice membership to look at our machines/setup in the last month? Do you plan to? Yes I have, nb showed me how to edit the dns for the Fedora Magazine. I will be updating the DNS for the Fedora Magazine once I get a staging instance setup.
2. Has it helped you decide any area you wish to focus on or contribute to more? Yes I currently do all of my work in Fedora Marketing but I do enjoy some small Infrastructure work with badges.
3. Have you looked at or been able to work on any of the fi-apprentice 'easyfix' tickets? https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/report/14
No I haven't, Once I get some more bugs worked out of Fedora Magazine then I might, but right now my time is set to this and Fedora Badges.
4. Do you still wish to be a member of the group? If not (for whatever reason) could you provide any hints to help others down the road? Yes

I really haven't found anything hard to get involved. If I need something I will ask in Fedora-admin but I have a few key people from each team I work with if I have something that needs to be handled right away.
7. Have you been able to make any weekly irc meetings? Do you find them helpful or interesting?
I sometimes can make them
8. Do you have any pets?
Yes a 7 year old Jack Russell minpin mix named Duke.

I did, and I intend to keep doing it.

No, I've never needed help deciding that.
- Have you looked at or been able to work on any of the fi-apprentice

Didn't look, I was too busy breaking Bodhi for EPEL 5 repos. ;)

I do.

Timezones.

No, because... timezones. :(

Yeap, I did log in, though didn't really had much time this month.

Not sure yet..

Not really, just a glimpse.

Yeap!

Some issues have their milestone set to obsolete versions of Fedora. Some are set to `new` whereas there is at least one person working on them. Doing a cleanup would be cool :)
Also what about issues regarding the fedora-infra repos @github? I guess these are not included in trac, but some of the issues are marked as easyfix. Shouldn't those two trackers "combined" somehow?
- What do you find to be the hardest part of getting involved?
Finding things to work on? Getting attention from others to help you? Finding tickets in your interest area?
First, lack of time then finding things to work on. Need to do more search. I've been reading the txt docs but they are too many to get a clear picture of how things are working out. Will get there :)
- Have you been able to make any weekly irc meetings? Do you find them
helpful or interesting?
Yes, I think 2-3 so far, some I missed because I forgot :p Set in my calendar now.
- Do you have any pets?
Around 6 cats, 3 of which are now pregnant... Talk about geometric progression.

Well we can put it on discussion tomorrow at the meeting (hope to make it on time) and start a clean-up :)

Just as a followup here...
I moved all open easyfix tickets to the HANDYWAVY-FUTURE milestone and assigned them to 'nobody'. I probibly will start doing this once a month. That way if someone stalls out looking at something someone else will feel more free to look, and if something takes longer than a month, they can just reassign it to themselves.

Yes and Yes.
- Do you have any pets?
A 15 year old indoor DSH torty, a 10 year old indoor DSH black cat (this one is really my wife's - the cat hates everyone else), and a 6 year old outdoor DSH white mouser with black ears and a stub of a black tail (it got ripped off in a battle with a 'coon).

None at this time. I'll let you know when the mood strikes me.

More direction for new comers on what to look at next. For instance, based on the infra group you'd like to be part of, maybe a more structured, you should be looking at this, reading this, then doing these type of tickets.
