Kadischi Doc files updated
by Chitlesh GOORAH
Hello there,
Kadischi's Doc folder updated!
I have updated the CVS version of Kadischi's Doc folder ONLY. The
updated files were available since weeks on
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kadischi/Development.
Ill be cleaning them now from
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kadischi/Development.
Since we have not yet talked about what to upload with respect to
Fedora Core 5, the documentation does not include anything about
Fedore Core 5.
JasperHartline and I believe anything that needs to be commited to
CVS, be commited when FC5 final is released. Fedora Core 4 is still a
supported, non-legacy platform. There is no reason to break Kadischi
under Fedora Core 4 until Fedora Core 5 is released.

Kadischi & DVD repo media
by J. Hartline
Hi.
The issue regarding using Kadischi with DVD repository media has been
resolved.
For users under FC5t2 or t3 and Anaconda 10.92.0-1 this has been resolved.
For users under Fedora Core 4, I will attach a patch, if you wish to use
DVD repo media
with Kadischi under Fedora Core 4, please apply liberally.
I doubt this patch will make it within the CVS, as Andy Burns has
stated, the CVS as it is will be where
we draw the "line in the sand".
Work should be focused on FC5(tx) final for usability, and this was one
of my major concerns.
Application for Fedora Core 4 users would be similar to the following:
patch -b /usr/lib/anaconda/instdata.py
/path/to/patch/kadischi-anaconda-fc4-nodvd.patch
against anaconda-10.2.1.5-2 (FC4).
Thanks.

call for drafting a kadischi OOo presentation
by Chitlesh GOORAH
Hai there,
If Im free for the Linuxtag in Wiesbaden (Germany)
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon/FUDConWiesbaden2006 I would like
to present Kadischi over there.
Im planning to create a OOo presentation about kadischi which might be
useful for other ambassadors as well to market Kadischi. Sure other
Kadischi contributors can use it as well during conferences/lug
meetings etc
The idea behind is to show what is Kadischi, and how it works.
This is my draft with the headlines, please do fill the missing parts :
* What is The Fedora Project?
* What is Kadischi?
* Primary Principles.
* Who is behind the Project?
_* testers , worldwide
_* translators
_* no maintainer
* Inside the code
_* Intro to Anaconda
_* patches
_* Post install scripts
_* documentation
* How to create a live cd
_* methods of building (cdrom://,..)
_* packages
* How to get involved?
_* mailing list
_* Wiki Kadischi

fc5t2 notes -- graphical close, still no kickstart install
by Skunk Worx
I've followed the msgs a little and am able to create a fc5t2 image
using the instructions for "Development" :
http://www.fedoraproject.org/wiki/Kadischi/Development
The created image will not autoboot, i must enter "linux" at the
ISOLINUX boot: prompt. I think this is a known issue. I think I saw a
firstboot red startup message, but it doesn't seem to affect the
startup. Otherwise the dvd boots and runs.
As far as kickstart installs, the sample ks script in kadischi CVS fails
in the interactive step for network:
In interactive step network, can't continue
I added a network line like :
network --device eth0 --bootproto dhcp
Which got me through most of the installation, but now fails at the end
with :
In progress...
In interactive step complete, can't continue
Not sure what to do here. Also, Control-C won't work at this step, have
to kill -9 the interpreter.

[PATCH] - rhgb, inittab and xorg
by Essien Essien
Hi all,
This is my first patch against kadischi. I hope: diff -Naur format is ok?
The attached patch does 3 things:
1. It adds the two kernel parameters 'rhgb' and 'quiet' to the kernel lines
in isolinux (they're just kernel parameters and if not used are ignored so i
didn't think there was any need to add them conditionally)
2. 08inittab.sh is a post install script that sets up /etc/inittab on the
livecd to runlevel 5
3. 09xorg.sh sets a default xorg.conf. Without this, rhgb tries to start,
and borks on unknown resolution.
NB. the patches are small, that's why i sent them in one patch. if this is
undesirable, please let me know, and i'll put them in a better format.
cheers,
Essien

New CVS maintainer
by Andy Burns
Hi folks,
A bit of movement after last nights meeting, Elliot Lee has granted me
cvsdevel access for kadischi, I already have pointers from Chitlesh for
some things waiting to get into CVS, any more from anyone else?
including KADISCHI in the title would be helpful.
I'm not going to rush to fix (or break!) anything especially as I've
only got kadischi installed on FC5 not on FC4 yet.
Obviouwly kadischi on FC4 is still going to require patches to anaconda
and I can't change that, but I hope to incorporate Jasper's patch(es) so
that on FC5 (where anaconda patches are no longer required) patches to
the kadischi are also no longer required by the user.
Bear with me ...
Andy.
