To be affected, an application would have to call png_set_keep_unknown_chunks(), which tells libpng not to ignore unknown chunks, but to do something with them. The PNG spec allows for "unknown" chunks, which are ignored by default, but an application could in theory embed some sort of extra data in a png image, then later get it back out via this mechanism. To be affected, an application would have to call png_set_keep_unknown_chunks(), which tells libpng not to ignore unknown chunks, but to do something with them. The PNG spec allows for "unknown" chunks, which are ignored by default, but an application could in theory embed some sort of extra data in a png image, then later get it back out via this mechanism. fc10 packages for Fedora 9?

The update view now shows a whole bunch of packages, including various (apparently) fc10 packages, such as alsa-utils-1.0/16-3.fc10. But I haven't enabled rawhide for fc10. (I have been running "pre-fc9" for a while - IIRC I installed from one of the betas.) preupgrade 0.9.3-2.fc8 failing F8->F9

Thought I would try out preupgrade but it doesn't seem to be working. f9 install notes

Thanks go out to the f9 team for a great release. I used the new jigdo file to update my prerelease iso. This was way faster than loading an entirely new install dvd. On to the install... I booted the new x86_64 dvd and asked anaconda to check it. It said it was OK, and ejected the dvd. When I said to continue, I would get an error dialog, over and over and installation would not continue. I had to do a reset and start over and bypass the media check. This happened on two different machines. On upgrading a F8 install, anaconda could not determine the boot loader and selected the "do nothing" option, so I used it. F8 booting as a straight forward sda grub load. However, on reboot, anaconda had indeed modified the grub.conf file correctly, with all other entries intact. I think a new user would be really confused. I was just slightly confused :-). I think the grayed out "boot loader will be modified" entry should have been selected. When I ran system-config-display, it said it would generate a xorg.conf.bak file, but never did. It just did a replacement of the file. Did a fresh install to a new PUNDIT 1H AH2 system with sata disk and dvd. Two gigs memory and 4400+ X2 processor. It uses an NVIDIA 6150 graphics chip onboard. I used a CTX-S762G LCD 17" monitor. When I booted from the install dvd, I get "Signal out of Range" for the display and I could not continue. Using the "vesa" option to the boot parameters allowed me to go through the install. I got the same thing on firstboot, so I had to add "vesa" and "resolution=1280x1024" to the boot parameters. I still had to do <ctrl><alt>+ several time to get past the same message. Running system-config-display and selecting a generic 1280x1024 LCD display and vesa hardware allows the system to boot. It seems Xorg wants to drive the display faster than 75Hz. And again, there is not a backup file generated for xorg.conf. Now on to upgrading my rawhide machine to the new f10 rawhide. Jim

Yum didn't want to stop off at F9

I know that yum was supposed to jump from the testing packages to release packages after the F9 release this morning, but earlier today I got a notification for 253 updates, all with fc10 in their package name. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. # rpm -qa | grep 'fedora-release' fedora-release-notes-9.0.0-1.noarch fedora-release-9-2.noarch The files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ look to be fine; rawhides are disabled, fedora and livna configs use $releasever in their mirror paths. I did a network install of F9 about a week ago using http://mirrors.kernel.org/fedora/development/x86_64/os Anyone know the best way to correct this? -- Dylan Type faster. F8 -> F9 preupgrade

Hi, I tried preupgrade without success, but at least it didn't destroy my old installation. :-) I started package downloads with preupgrade 0.9.3-1, then killed it when 0.9.3-2 came out, upgraded and continued downloading. Total download size was about 6.2 GB, I have many huge games installed from Fedora 8 Everything. However, this version hung at the last download phase, which was fixed by 0.9.3-3. This version offered to reboot into upgrade finally, which I did. It booted into anaconda upgrade, which detected my partitions correctly. The problem that made the upgrade unsuccessful was that Anaconda doesn't pull the network settings from my old installation and I have an ADSL connection with a dump ADSL modem, not a router. The GRUB boot line for preupgrade is this: kernel /upgrade/vmlinuz preupgrade lang=hu_HU.UTF-8 keymap=hu stage2=hd:sda1:/upgrade/stage.img \ method=http://ftp.crc.dk/fedora/linux/releases=9/Fedora/x86_64/os Anaconda stalled at "Retrying package download" because the network connection isn't established. Replacing the method= parameter with method=file:///mnt/sysimage/var/cache/yum/anaconda-upgrade i.e. to point to the download directory gave me a Python exception in Anaconda.
