How do I get the current weather on my Gnome desktop, either on the top bar or as a reasonably sized icon on the desktop?

Panel applet is no longer supported in Gnome3. I use "Avant Window Navigator" to get some of the stuff i like, but gnome3 don't provide.
yum install avant-window-navigator awn-extras-applets

Tim, your suggestion of installing avant-window-navigator and awn-extras-applets is excellent. Avant-Window-Navigator should receive greater exposure.
Learning Gnome 3 is not easy, but I must say that it grows on you. It is a nice GUI...!

Thanks! Great suggestion. I've become very fond of the Mac desktop and applets and a dock are a good addition to the G3 desktop.
