with atl1e driver: Corrupted MAC on input
by Gene Czarcinski
I believe I have detected a significant problem with the "atl1e" driver for
the Attansic Technology Corp. Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet
Controller (rev b0) when running Fedora 11 preview with the latest updates.
This controller is integrated on the ASUS M4A78 PRO motherboard.
Although my problem occurred when I was running scp, I believe that the
problem could also occur with other forms of data transfer and only show up
as corrupted data (files). Thus, I thought this email appropriate to warn
other users. My current "solution" is to install another NIC.
This problem has been reported:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=503288
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13404
This is no "show stopper" but may be of concern to other users. I am posting
a separate copies of this email to the test and user mailing lists.

Triage Day tomorrow
by Adam Williamson
yep, tomorrow after the meeting is officially triage day as per usual.
We have three applicants to the group this week but none has yet sent an
introduction mail, I've asked them to come along to the triage day if
they'd like to anyway, though. Of course, if any of our other recent new
bugzappers members need help or advice on triage topics, do come along
and there'll be people around to ask.
#fedora-bugzappers , after the meeting - be there!

RC2 Anaconda loses existing RAID config
by Allen Kistler
AnacondaBlocker or not? Read on.
Booting with a kickstart file with missing directives should prompt for
that info manually. In my case, I leave out the partitioning info
because my machines are different from each other physically, but I like
to set them up the same as much as possible, hence kickstart.
I discovered that anaconda on the F11-rc2 DVD, when prompting for disk
layout, does not display any existing RAID configuration on the custom
layout screen. The config appears to be lost.
The same problem does not occur when not using kickstart. The same
problem did not occur with alpha, beta, or preview when using kickstart,
so this bug is a regression.
I collected the RC2 logs and posted them to BZ #503310, along with their
Preview counterparts. Apparently the version of anaconda on the RC2 DVD
doesn't just lose the config. It never collects it in the first place.
I suspect there are other use cases (necessarily involving kickstarting)
that this bug would affect. So ... Blocker? I'd hate to cause another
week's delay, but it seems like something worth checking.

I forgot to even list the main benefits of jigdo as I see them.
No redundant downloading of packages you have on your system or on the earlier .iso image. Jesse dislikes jigdo. Everyone can use a jigdo client because you use standard protocols rather than protocols that may be blocked by an employer or school admin as P2P. You can use the existing mirror infrastructure to grab the packages you don't have.

Problems With gdb

[Problems With gdb]
Does anyone know why gdb gives debuginfo errors when I try to disassemble
system binaries in /usr/bin? I follow the neccessary yum installation that
it tells me to execute, but it fails with HTTP host not found and other
errors...including telling me that the debuginfo package doesn't exist.

Evolution Fails to Properly Render Certain HTML Markup
by Christopher A Williams
I have mentioned this before in a separate thread, but now have more
information. Here's the issue:
Evolution in F11 is not properly rendering certain HTML characters
correctly. I have a daily e-mail I receive where this is clearly
highlighted (from Moody's Bible Institute).A snippet of the source HTML
in the e-mail for today looks like this:
Some people tend to like their spirituality quick and easy.
After all, there’s work to do, places to go, people to see.
Holiness? I’ll listen to a podcast while I exercise.
Servanthood? Our Sunday school class is doing a DVD series on
that. Bible study? <i>The One-Minute Bible</i>—and yes,
there really is such a thing—is a lifesaver. Patience?
Who’s got time for that?
Evolution does not properly render certain characters in this HTML
message. It displays the above source as follows:
Some people tend to like their spirituality quick and easy.
After all, theres work to do, places to go, people to see.
Holiness? Ill listen to a podcast while I exercise.
Servanthood? Our Sunday school class is doing a DVD series on
that. Bible study? The One-Minute Bibleand yes, there really is
such a thingis a lifesaver. Patience? Whos got time for that?
So, as a test, I took the entire source HTML from today's e-mail
message, saved it off as a separate file, and then tried loading it into
Firefox. Firefox renders it properly! It looks like this:
Some people tend to like their spirituality quick and easy.
After all, there’s work to do, places to go, people to see.
Holiness? I’ll listen to a podcast while I exercise.
Servanthood? Our Sunday school class is doing a DVD series on
that. Bible study? The One-Minute Bible—and yes, there really is
such a thing—is a lifesaver. Patience? Who’s got time for that?
Each of the above examples were pasted directly from their corresponding
applications. I believe this is clearly a bug in Evolution, and it is
one that showed up in F11. Evolution in F10 _does not_ have this
problem.
I've opened this problem up as Bugzilla number 503500 filed against
rawhide. You can get the HTML file I used to test this as an attachment
from there.
Cheers,
Chris

recently, "Failed to print document, Too many failed attempts"
by Robert P. J. Day
just recently, i'm having regular trouble printing PDF files thru
"evince", with evince complaining as above. i used to be able to
throw a 200-page PDF file at the printer but now, i have to do it in 8
and 16 page chunks at a time. and sometimes, even *that* doesn't
work.
is anyone else seeing this?
