Result of all this is can't start gnome desktop. What to do?

Reverting GConf2 packages "fixed this for me". (I noticed some new SELinux messages that may be causing this, and reported to dwalsh already.)
I had other issues that reverting gnome-session and gnome-settings-daemon fixed.....
