Is gedit supposed to show up on every workspace?
Not by default atleast. Might be useful to mention version of package, release ete.

Fedora 9
# rpm -qa gedit* gedit-2.22.0-1.fc9.x86_64
I noticed it today on my Data persistence USB key (btw wicked cool) and thought maybe it was just a fluke but now at home, gedit just hangs out on all my workspaces!
Usb key ist i386, I'll open a bug.

It is on "Always on visible workspace"
Is that planned or should I keep the bug open. Seems annoying to me :)

Did you import a homedir or anything? Or maybe, accidentally click it on at some point?
It's bound per-app, often.

Nope.
It happens on my home laptop, (x64), desktop at work (x64) and a live usb key i've been using around (i386).
I didn't copy over any old settings on it.

I've got a live key here.
And it does the same thing. I think it's the profile of the default user. :-/

okay, I added a new user to the usb key. Switched over to it and it has the same default for gedit.
I'm gonna go look at the gconf defaults for it.

New real install (not live), new user, nothing imported
gedit is set to visible on all

Seems likely, I use my settings copied (with occasional clean-ups) since F6 and gedit behaves for me as expected on F9 (i.e. stays on the workspace I put it onto).

Interesting, its like it only happens the first time you open gedit and type in it, after that it is working as what I would think is default.
There is know way on 3 desktops that I clicked on "Always on visible workspace" the first time i've opened gedit.
If that is the case, then its a lame bug, just seems weird.
