Well, gnome desktop panels and desktop icons did not come up after
reboot, just my background and startup programs that have windows on the
desktop.
Crl-Alt-BS and select gnome/openbox and got everything back and then
repeat selecting just gnome and all is well with each restart now.
No harm, no foul?

Here after thursday's (or so) updates I get a blank (no text, most icons
gone) GDM, loging in blindly (this is the only account here) worked. After
today's update not even that works, ctrl-alt-BS does nothing, ctrl-alt-DEL
is broken too. Going through runlevel 3 and to X gives me a background and
upper/lower blank icon bars. Only the power switch gets me out.

Here after thursday's (or so) updates I get a blank (no text, most icons

I should have mentioned that I am using up-to-date rawhide except for
GDM and the ATI drivers. Had to reverted those last Monday to get X and
GDM working again.

intel i810 driver here. Reverted that an gdm, back to normal
[Koji should be advertised more for us rawhideans who ocacionally need to
step back....]

intel i810 driver here. Reverted that an gdm, back to normal

Hmmmm...looking thru this thread, seems to be something different in two
different graphics drivers and gdm. What is common here? Where to bz?
For ati, the mach64 and r128 support was broken out into two separate
drivers recently. Seems an avenue to explore when time permits.

Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN Network Connection (rev 61)
Here I get non-working gdm (just blank entry fields). Sometime it worked
(loged in blind), then not at all.
Lately (last xorg-x11-drv-i810?) the Gnome desktop hangs completely after
NetworkManager spins for a few rounds tring to get the WiFi network. Then
the CapsLock light blinks, and nothing works anymore.
What is common here? Where
