Just grabbed the latest 2.6.0 from arjanv and it has the following BUSTED dep:
error: Failed dependencies: module-init-tools is needed by kernel-2.6.0-0.test5.1.43 If you download module-init-tools-0.9.13 rpm it and install, it also throws conflict with existing rmmod etc
Please fix.

Did you try to "-U" instead of "-i" the module-init-tools RPM? You did say "install" rather than "update" so I figured asking might remind you of something. {^_^}

Install the kernel with nodeps, just make sure you have the latest modutils from rawhide. modutils needs rebuilt with a Provides: added, it just hasn't been done yet.

With _latest_ modutils from rawhide I have this problem too!!
FATAL: Could not open '/boot/System.map-2.6.0-0.test5.1.43': No such file or directory No dep file found for kernel 2.6.0-0.test5.1.43 mkinitrd failed

Same here, after upgrading to latest modutils and mkinitrd from rawhide.
Pavel.
You CAN create the dep file easily enough, ya know. "man depmod". Now, if after THAT is run, "nevermind". {^_^} Maybe Arjan is trying to teach Linux experimenters some of what they should know by forcing them to learn. {^_-} (It makes a good story, doesn't it?) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pavel Rosenboim" pavelr@coresma.com

I know that. I installed enough kernels manually to know how to do this. I even compiled some :). The main reason to use Arjans RPMs for me is that it saves time. Well, I guess I got spoiled by Arjans service to build kernels for me :)
