Arabic issue #20: A request for an API solution of reversing the arrows.
by Munzir Taha
The image of the pointing arrow needs to always be reversed in
QFileDialog::getExistingDirectory(), ::getOpenFileName(s)()
and ::getSaveFileName() when the layout direction is reversed. I believe Qt
should implement this on the API and attach it to the reverse situation.
Now the left and right arrows on applications/dialogs/widgets should be
swapped when dealing with a right-to-left language. We need to always do it
as follows as mentioned by blanchette's book:
if (QApplication::reverseLayout()) {
backAct->setIconSet(forwardIcon);
forwardAct->setIconSet(backIcon);
} else {
backAct->setIconSet(backIcon);
forwardAct->setIconSet(forwardIcon);
}
Is it too expensive if I ask for this to be somehow on the API?

Arabic issue #19: QTabWidget doesn't display properly when reversed
by Munzir Taha
System: Linux localhost 2.6.10-1mdk #1 Fri Jan 14 14:31:03 CET 2005 i686 AMD
Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ unknown GNU/Linux
Snapshot: a fresh sync
CODE:
examples/dialogs/tabdialog/tabdialog -reverse &
that contains this code
tabWidget = new QTabWidget(this);
tabWidget->addTab(new GeneralTab(fileInfo), tr("General"));
tabWidget->addTab(new PermissionsTab(fileInfo), tr("Permissions"));
tabWidget->addTab(new ApplicationsTab(fileInfo), tr("Applications"));
PROBLEM: when the layout is reversed, clicking the tabs for General,
Permissions and Applications let the shading go to the wrong tab so it's very
clear wich tab is the active one.

by Munzir Taha
Qt Version: qt-x11-opensource-4.0.0-b2-snapshot-20050131
System: Mandrake 10.1 on AMD64
Accelerators mess the arabic text in QPushButtons, QMenu, .... The letter
underlined will shift its postion.
CODE:
For QMenu: From the Qt examples I tested like this:
/examples/mainwindows/application/mainwindow.cpp:
editMenu = menuBar()->addMenu(trUtf8("ﺕ&ﺡﺮﻳﺭ"((;
AND
For QPushButton, I tested with a code like this
// This one has an accelerator on the first letter
// and the letters display in reverse order
QPushButton pb(QObject::trUtf8("&حفظ"));
