Notes about translations

I made some fixes/changes to the translations and wants to share two important 
issues with you:

issue #1: Accelerator position:
I suggest not to put the accelerator before ALEF. This is due to the fact that 
it would appear as a very short line on display which can hardly be noticed.

issue #2: Close/Exit/Quit translation
I notice a confusion here, so I suggest:
Close إغلاق
Exit خروج
Quit إنهاء

We need to make distinct translation here and hence is the suggestion. I 
already fixed some of them.

Sherif, can't we use arabic-fedora.org for such guides ?? We need to keep them 
permanent somewhere.
Also, to solve issues like free.fr being blocked in KSA, we can use 
arabic-fedora.org to upload the test screenshots there !!

Mohamed, Sure .. I have no problem with this. Arabic-Fedora.org was
intended for two things:

1- Helping here
2- Live Distro which I have no time for : )

So yes you can use the space and service as you wish guys.
I do also apologize for not being so active, I am being loaded
with a lot of work and had to work some weekends too.

I will be free soon insh2allah and back on track : )

Let me know who needs access to arabic-fedora and what
kind of access and I can arrange this.

Can't installing Kabel.. can't mount the floppy?!

HEllo All...

i got some problems to install kabel and to use the floppy as a media 
between windows and linux. 

first thing.. the floppy.. when i did mount the floppy i got this: 'mount:
/dev/fd0 is not a valid block device' ?! then how can i mount the floppy.. 

Second thing.. installing kabel.. first i found its package located in here
'kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm'

[root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -Uvh kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm
warning: kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID db42a60e
Preparing...                ###########################################
[100%]
   1:kdesdk                 ###########################################
[100%]
[root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -qi kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm
package kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm is not installed


and even if i tried to remove the package; am assuming it's already
installed!! i might be wrong, i got the same message.

[root@localhost RPMS]# rpm -e kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm
error: package kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm is not installed

Okay fine.. it's not installed..(even if i don't know why!?)
i change the path of the binary file and did copy it to this destination: 
/usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386
 
and try to install or upgrade got this nice message:

[root@localhost i386]# rpm -ivh kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm
warning: kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID db42a60e
Preparing...                ###########################################
[100%]
        package kdesdk-3.1-3 is already installed
[root@localhost i386]# rpm -Uvh kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm

        package kdesdk-3.1-3 is already installed
[root@localhost i386]#


Now am confused.. is it installed or not?! shall i use other command than
'rpm' or shall i use extra options ?!

I don't remember if these commands needed or not: cofigure / make commands
but i think it is used with the source files not with the binaries.. correct
me if am wrong!!

that's all i can't help you without installing kabel :)

Thanks for reply ya Muhammad.. but what are you saying i already did.. rpm
-qi <package name>.. tells you information about the package whether it's
installed or not..  
So what it tells me is that 'package kdesdk-3.1-3.i386.rpm is not installed'
!! 
and when i try installing the pkg again... it tells me it's already
installed.. am really confused :))

Well, you were absolutely right..  i thought it won't be differ..filename or
package name.. but it did works and it was installed and i finally opened
kbabel.. but i have to move po files in very strange way.. but it did works
at the end..

Any one wants to take the lead here? We need one of the teams to organize the 
work of QA using arabic-fedora.org available resources. Any suggestion about 
the best way to proceed?

Is it better to use a wiki system or to make a whole CMS-like site using 
WebGUI for example?

Mamboo (the CMS used in arabic-fedora.org) already has some sort of a wiki 
module, I didn't test it.
Well, as Sherif now agrees that we can use a-r.o, what are the issues that we 
need to address in that site !!
I suggest:
1- Keeping a todo list
2- Screenshots gallery.
3- Links to important resources.
4- A small guide for translators and localizators [right expression? ] (I 
don't mean to make it redundant with other Arabic groups, but it should 
address fedora specific issues)
5- forum ?? or mailing list ??

Any comments ?

There is a nice WIKI there, there is also a Document management module
installed which you guys can use to keep version and update docs as needed.

The wiki also will generate downloadable PDF file for any document.
Please test it, if you want specific WIKI I can install it.

All of the above can be hosted on the site. There is mailman installed,
Galery module, URL manager module, beside the wiki and doc management.
There is also a small forum module installed, and blog. I can expand 
anything
you want. Also we have huge space there :)

Good start! I will contribute to that essential guide.

mailing list is better, I believe. It saves a lot of time checking the posts. 
I also feel this mailing list is enough and we need to direct all people here 
to consolidate efforts.
