------- Additional Comments from Joel Rees <joel_rees(a)sannet.ne.jp>
This behavior (not being able to enter a password to clear the loop and drop
into rescue mode) has been present from my original report.
I'm thinking it's best to continue the bug, unless we want to make this thread
be for the problems of trying to load a library before the file system it
resides on is mounted and make a separate thread trying to handle whtaever the
real reason is for being unable to actually enter the login process when
dropping to rescue mode.
I'm inclined to believe that the problem is still based in not being able to
get all of the login code into memory when the bug occurs.
I don't think this bug can be fixed until the programmers are able to determine
some sort of separate login process for protecting the rescue mode. You can't
use the system to enforce privilege before the system is fully running.

------- Additional Comments from Michal Ambroz <rebus(a)seznam.cz>
I am experiencing the same issue in Fedora 14. Extensive number of gcm-apply
processes is running.
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
Notebook HP EliteBook6930p
Screen flickers with cca 30% chance when:
- starting gnome-greeter (login screen)
- directly after loging in
- after screensaver blanks and un-blanks the screen
- when starting gcm-prefs
- when changing color profiles from one to another in gcm-prefs
Workaround is to unistall gnome-color-manager.

needinfo canceled: [Bug 474007] cannot skip user creation in firstboot

------- Additional Comments from Jan "Yenya" Kasprzak <kas(a)fi.muni.cz>
It is possible to skip the user creation using a trick described in bug #543008
(select Configure network login, and then Cancel). Also in F14, there is an
Advanced button now, where the administrator can create users using
system-config-users, with full control over UIDs, GIDs, etc.
However: after creating users with s-c-u (clicking Advanced in firstboot),
firstboot still thinks no user has been created yet, and does not allow to get
out of this step, unless the trick described above is used.

This trick still works in F14.
HOWEVER: I am glad this still works, and I think firstboot should allow to skip
the user creation in a more straightforward way. So I would suggest to close
this as NOTABUG, or modify it to the request to add more straightforward way of
skipping the user creation in firstboot.
