Openstack - cinder - volumes NFS
by Benoit ML
Hello,
I'm trying to use the cinder NFS driver to manage volume. From what I
read, the driver is basic : créate/delete volume on an NFS share.
Well but I didn't manage to get it work ... can you help me please ?
what I must do ?
Moreover if you have any advice for a "good" basic shared storage
architecture with Openstack, plz shared the information ;)
In cinder.conf :
-----------------------------------------------------------------
volume_driver=cinder.volume.nfs.NfsDriver
state_path = /var/lib/cinder
nfs_shares_config=/etc/cinder/shares.conf
nfs_mount_point_base = /mnt/exports/volumes/
#nfs_sparsed_volumes = True
#nfs_disk_util = df
lock_path = /var/lib/cinder/tmp
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you in advance.
Regards,

instances refuse to terminate
by nux@li.nux.ro
Hi,
I'm trying to kill some instances and in the dashboard, but they're
stuck with "deleting" status.
In compute.log I can see this: http://fpaste.org/An9x/
The VMs themselves are up and running..
openstack-status says it's fine (i don't use swift or volumes)

dead dashboard after update & reboot
by nux@li.nux.ro
Hi,
Today after a "yum update" which did upgrade parts of my openstack
installation and a reboot, I ended up with a "500 internal server
error".
Here's last 100 log entried in httpd/error_log
centos 6.3 + epel (up to date :> ), selinux is in permissive mode.

non-ec2 cloud images for F18 (and for F19 and beyond)
by Matthew Miller
Everything did not line up for cloud images in the mirrors for F18,
including last minute oh-that-doesn't-work-in-koji problems.
So, at this point, two major things:
1. I'll generate images from the "generic" cloud kickstarts and put them on
Fedora people. We can link to them from the wiki. (As always, any input
into the kickstart files, testing, and everything else is incredibly
valuable.)
2. At Fudcon, we'll have a hackfest dedicated to getting the image-building
problems ironed out, the buildsystem migrated to use more up-to-date
image generation tools, and ideally the dream of automating it all.
Then, we'll make images-on-the-mirrors a proper F19 feature and go through
that process, making everything more awesome and etc.

OK but what is the effort required to build my own? (it appears to be
more difficult than just a ks build?). And if I can roll my own, I
presume I can upload it to my account in the Sydney region?
I guess it is so close . . I should just be patient and wait for it to
show up . . I've never been good at that . .
Thanks,
Phil.

nova-manage service list: enabled XXX
by nux@li.nux.ro
Hi,
Trying to add an additional node to an openstack deployment, I followed
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Getting_started_with_OpenStack_EPEL#Adding_....
I started the openstack-nova-network and compute services on the new
node; the firewall is open for both sides, no errors in logs on either
servers, but when I do a service list all I get is:

server-4 also serves as controller and both know about each other
through /etc/hosts, so it's not a name problem.
Where else could I look?
