FC6 Pre-release (Test4)
by Will Woods
Greetings!
I know many of you have had problems installing FC6t3. Let me offer my
apologies, and my sincere thanks to you for *trying* to help us test
Fedora Core.
We still want your help! In order to make that happen, we've decided to
do an early release of pre-FC6 disk images. They will only be available
by bittorrent, in order to save us time waiting for the mirrors to sync.
This release should fix the most common bugs preventing installation of
FC6t3, including:
#206913: Anaconda exception on upgrade from FC4
#206876: GRUB claims initrd is too big for memory on x86_64
#208080: ahci/ata_piix mixup causes Anaconda to not find SATA disks
#206453: installed x86_64/ppc system missing initrd, cannot boot
#206202: Anaconda traceback during lvcreate on ppc64
...and others.
We'll make an announcement when the images actually become available.
Let me know if there are any questions.

A problem with kickstart from fc6t2 to fc6t3.
by George R Goffe
Howdy,
I'm stumped and don't quite know where to turn.
I ran the "system-config-kickstart" command from my fc6t2
system and am trying to kickstart to fc6t3 on another
system from that fc6t2 system. I keep getting a popup
prompt during kickstart that states "Unable to locate
partition sda1 for /boot". Kickstart fails at this point.
I don't know if I have goofed or there is REALLY a
problem/bug. I have looked at the fedora docs but nothing
has helped.
The snipit below is from the ks.cfg file that
system-config-kickstart generated.
Is this a bug in anaconda or system-config-kickstart or am
I doing something wrong?
Regards,
George...

problem with booting FC 6
by Michal Janda
Hi,
I have installed FC6 test3, installation goes fine. I have two disks,
hda and hdc.
On /hda1 are win, /hda2 is mapped as /home.
At hdc I have crated /boot as /dev/hdc1, /dev/hdc2 is LVM where I have
/, /opt and /var.
I have choose to install grub at MBR on hda1.
After reboot system stops at
grub>
If I try cat /boot/menu.lst it says /boot can not been mounted.
With rescue cd i can see at boot kernel, grub etc.
Both disks are IDE, hdc was competely reformated.
Have you any suggestions?

Is it possible to add a URL checker to the rescuecd? I think some of the
times it has failed to install is because the URL is wrong. *linux
