cron / mrtg problem
by Robert M. Albrecht
Hi,
I use mrtg to monitor some network devices. Running from the cli is fine,
but running from cron I get strange errors (for the last past few weeks).
I found an old bugzilla-entry on mrtg and cron combined with selinux, but I
have selinux disabled.
Currently I have no clue if this is a mrtg or a cron problem. Any ideas ?

nv driver and gnome broken
by David Mack
In the latest rawhide update, the nv driver
(xorg-x11-drv-nv-2.1.6-6.fc9) kills the X server. The nouveau driver
works.
Once X is running, it fails to start a window manager, repeatedly
spewing this into the log file:
AUDIT: Wed Jan 23 09:01:06 2008: 2932 X: client 1 rejected from local
host ( uid

Rawhide - drivel needs a rebuild
by Patrick Lists
Hi,
Don't know if this is an accepted way of mentioning it instead of filing
a bug. Hitting bz for small things like this seems overkill. Actually
I'm not even sure if this needs mentioning :) So pointers welcome.
Laptop with F9 updated to todays' Rawhide.
$ sudo yum install drivel
...
Error: Missing Dependency: libsoup-2.2.so.8()(64bit) is needed by
package drivel-2.1.1-0.3.20071130svn.fc9.x86_64 (development)
...
$ rpm -qi libsoup | grep Version
Version : 2.3.0
Also, the drivel version is a bit confusing. I got the srpm from koji
and it seems to contain 2.0.3.

Dear all,
when checking mail, after I updated I noticed a

Wireless on this machine has not worked since Pre
Fedora 7 like Fedora 7 Test 2/Test 3. I used madwifi
and compiled from source. But after a while I was
unable to make madwifi work and I gave up and use
wired connection. I can send lspci if you need to
determine if ath5k can support this machine.
I am attaching the output generated by dmesg and hope
that it can be better to determine what is happening.
Regards,
Antonio

RE: cron not working :(
by Jonathan Kamens
Cronie RPM script bug. Init script is disabled after cronie installed. Fixed in next release of cronie to Rawhide. In the meantime, run '/sbin/chkconfig cronie reset; /sbin/chkconfig cronie on; /sbin/service crond start'.

Subject: cron not working :(
Dear all,
I have a cron job that plays music in the mornings
when I get to work.
Mplayer plays from a custom playlist of songs. It
turns on at 7:06 am and stops playing at 8:25 5
minutes before the bell. For the past two or three
days, the music has stopped playing :(
Here's what is in crontab and the corresponding
versions of *cron*
[olivares@localhost ~]$ crontab -l
# min hr mon dom dow command
06 7 * * 1-5 ~/alarm >& /dev/null
25 8 * * 1-5 killall -9
/usr/local/bin/mplayer >& /dev/null
05 19 * * 1-5 ~/alarm2 >& /dev/null
[olivares@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa crontab*
crontabs-1.10-19.fc9.noarch
[olivares@localhost ~]$ rpm -qa *cron*
crontabs-1.10-19.fc9.noarch
cronie-1.0-3.fc9.i386
anacron-2.3-57.fc9.i386
[olivares@localhost ~]$
If there would be a bug to be filed, against which one
should I file against so that I can get my cron jobs
working again?
Thanks,
Antonio
