Rather than common metadata, how about a common app that creates the necessary
metadata in all formats? That may not be as elegant, but it would address the
problem a lot faster than it would ever be possible to get everyone to agree
to a common format.
it hurts mirror maintainers. I don't want to carry around 4 copies of
the same data.
