If the problem is simply that Windows has overwritten the master boot
record, a simple grub-install /dev/hda should do it.
Here's something I've learned from working with grub. Info grub will
tell you how to make a grub boot floppy.
That floppy has saved my backside more than once. It is a very useful
accessory.
