Sylvia,
Great! Glad to hear you're already in the loop.
Here are some possible suggestions:
I heard, once upon a time, that there was a "quick" way to enable
photoshop-esque key bindings.
This would be *super* helpful for migrating users if it is still a feature
we can advertise. Here is a snippet from the 2.2 docs (Fedora ships 2.8 in
F21-F24:
https://apps.fedoraproject.org/packages/gimp)
"The GIMP also ships with a number of sets of key-bindings for its menus. If
you would like to replace the default GIMP keybindings by Photoshop
bindings, for example, you can move the file menurc in your user data
directory to oldmenurc, rename ps-menurc to menurc and restart GIMP." --
https://docs.gimp.org/2.2/en/gimp-introduction-history-2-0.html
Since I cannot link directly to that subsection of the docs, I spose you
could use a screenshot?
I would also point to user the docs directly too, and also a cheatsheet for
the default hotkeys? Here is a top result that is licensed CC-BY-NC-SA:

Hope these help, and happy hacking,
